Did they grow out of it? My son cannot have any milk based formulas except for gentlease with the partially broken down proteins (although he doesn’t like the taste) and I cut all dairy out of my diet since I’m breastfeeding and it was making him sick. His pediatrician says he will most likely grow out of it…I’m sure hoping so!!
If your baby had issues like this, did they grow out of it? Around what age? He’s 5 months now and we tried reintroducing one thing to my diet last week and he got sick :-( I’m thinking I will wait awhile before trying again because I hate making him sick.

I am not talking about an intolerance but a confirmed milk protein allergy. If they do/did have it, did you wait for the Doctors looking after him/her to challenge them with dairy or did you do it slowly and safely in your own home? My Daughter is 11 months and has a confirmed cows milk protein allergy (hers is IEG) and a peanut allergy. She is due to be challenged in hospital in June but she is getting increasingly frustrated with her diet and I wondered whether it would be stupid to challenge her with small amounts of cooked milk (in biscuit for example) ahead of her challenge or whether it would be better to wait, since we’ve waited this long. I am not about to go against what her Doctors say, nor am I EVER going to challenge her (or let them challenge her) with peanut due to the severity of her first reaction but if you had a child or have a child with a dairy allergy, did you just wait it out or try it yourself? And if you tried, did you start with cooked milk products and only small amounts?

My baby is still drinking from a bottle. He also has been on soy formula, though he was not officially “diagnosed” as having a milk allergy.

My daughter is just about t turn one. She’s been on soy formula (and breast milk for a few months) since birth. At the hospital they gave her Isomil (similac’s soy formula) I’m assuming thats all they had on hand since I had no idea about it then. I’ve tried to give her milk based formula several times and every time within a few days she gets diarrhea. She currently is on WIC and they will be taking her off of formula since she’ll be one. I’m just worried that she may be allergic to milk and don’t know how to find out for sure. Isn’t she too little for allergy testing? Has anyone else dealt with this with their babies? and was it an allergy or did it go away? Thanks for any info:)

My daughter is 15 months and still has her milk allergy, even to milk products such as yogurt and cheese. She wheezes and coughs and gets hives on her face. Is this something she will likely outgrow? Her pediatrician seemed to think it would be gone by now. For now we still have her on formula. It is milk-based, but it is the Nestle Goodstart Supreme and is made of whey protein and has no caesin. Is this why she’s not allergic to her formula? This allergy stuff can be confusing! She can’t drink soy formula or milk because it makes her vommit profusesly. I am contemplating keeping her on formula until age 2 and then switching to rice milk if the allergy is still there. Anyone else face a similar problem?
