I think you can find out anything your baby needs in Matzatlan by talking to someone at Father’s House Vineyard Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa because they have regular mission trips there and would know anything and everything about what is available there in the grocery stores and pharmacies. my daughter was tested and came back with food allergies one of which is milk…can she have yogurt?…cheese?…which ones?

if there mainly made of cheese, then no. if it’s about 1-2%, it should be okay.

Question by cmd0622: How come my son can eat yogurt and cheese with no problem but has allergic reaction to a full glass of milk?
The allergic reaction is a eczema like reaction over his trunk, arms and legs. But it’s only when he drinks a cup or more. He’s okay with a bit in his cereal. Any thoughts? (I am overall very familiar with food allergies as he has several. He’s never tested postive for milk though)

Yogurt is milk, but the chemical properties are slightly different because of the reaction with the bacteria that cause yogurt to form.

Maybe he can tolerate it because this chemical reaction has taken place when milk changes to yogurt.

Or maybe he is allergic to some kind of additive in the milk, but not the milk itself.

Just a thought.

I have a 9 month old son who is doing very well with the solids. He was premature and we were told he is doing well from a medical standpoint, but had a very hard time digesting breast milk, regular formula and we had to move to predigested formula.
He seems to do wonderfully with solid foods, with no reactions whatsoever.
I have tried Stoneyfield Farms Organic O’Soy yogurt on him with his regular breakfast, but I know they are supposed to have full fat yogurts until age two, anyone know of any full fat soy yogurts for infants and toddlers? Thanks.

In Australia they have the baby yogurt in the normal fridge section just at one end all together. Go and have a look in your supermarket or an organic supermarket if that’s what you want. Babies can have regular yogurt I haven’t tried my daughter yet but my friends just use regular stuff on their babies all around 7-8mths.

save the yogurt until the baby is old enough to digest it
Health experts and breastfeeding experts agree that it’s best to wait until your baby is around six months old before offering solid foods. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and many other health organizations recommend that babies be exclusively breastfed (no cereal, juice or other foods) for the first 6 months of life.
Signs that indicate baby is developmentally ready for solids include:
* Baby can sit up well without support.
* Baby has lost the tongue-thrust reflex and does not automatically push solids out of his mouth with his tongue.
* Baby is ready and willing to chew.
* Baby is developing a “pincer” grasp, where he picks up food or other objects between thumb and forefinger. Using the fingers and scraping the food into the palm of the hand (palmar grasp) does not substitute for pincer grasp development.
* Baby is eager to participate in mealtime and may try to grab food and put it in his mouth.
