Question by Braedyn’s Mommy ?: Strange Bowel Movements when switched to whole milk??
My son has been on Similac Alimentum since he was 3 months for colic and cow’s milk protein allergies. He is a yr. old and he has recently been doing some formula and some whole milk. His BM’s have been very strange, sometimes orange and red. And he is also having them more than normal. Is this normal in the transition to whole milk.. or should I be concerned. Any help would be appreciated (:

Question by emzwee: If my baby is sensitive to milk will it last her whole life?
I have a three month old breastfed baby who’s poop suddenly turned bright green. She also had a little bit of a stuffy nose and eczema. After research it seemed milk could be the problem and after taking it out of my diet the symptoms are decreasing. Its obviously not a severe allergy, but I’m curious if she’ll be sensitive to milk her whole life or if eventually she’ll (and I) will be able to have it.

At least you are keeping her eczema and allergies to a minimum by breast feeding – keep going.

Question by tri1104: can I introduce whole wheat to our baby?
I WILL be asking the dr first, but…. we have (to our knowledge) no food allergies in the family. We know we can begin introducing bread and pasta to our baby, but we’d prefer not to introduce white breads/pasta to her (we already give brown rice, oatmeal, etc with no problem)… can we skip the “whites” and go to the whole wheats? She’s 8 months old. Thanks

Of course it’s OK
My daughter started with whole grain pasta and toast around 8 months. Cheerios, which a lot of parents offer as first finger foods, are made with whole grains. You said there’s no history of allergies, so your daughter should be fine!

Question by Bianca: My daughter has a milk protein allergy. She turned 1 and we tried giving her whole milk?
She has been having loose stools and has developed a rash all over her body. I know it is a reaction from the milk. From what I have read you should not give babies with milk protein allergies soy milk or lactaid…what do you give them????????? I have read things about goats milk and rice milk?
also do they sell goats milk at the regular grocery store…I mean i have never looked for it so I dont know
She is also allergic to Soy. She was on a hypoallergenic formula. Soy formula gave her bloody stools.

Goats milk, same thing I grew up on since I have a milk protein allergy which I passed to my daughter. It is an acquired taste, but great when you get used to it.

Question by sgalin40: Can I use whole milk instead of water to make my babies formula?
She will be 1 year old in March. She was a preemie (36 weeks) and has not been gaining weight well recently due to illness the last few months. I am looking for ways to get as many calories into her as possible. She is not a big eater and will only take about 15 ounces of formula a day plus solids. Any suggestions for weight gain would be great. Also she has food allergies and is allergic to eggs, oats and soy products.
