Question by Pure Kenergy: Why would wheat beer cause chest pain?
I noticed an odd thing that has happened 3 times to me now after drinking specifically Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat beer. Shortly after drinking it, I will have an irritation in my esophagus that feels like a mix of pain and heartburn. The feeling the first time I drank this beer caused a couple of shooting pains into my throat, and the pain lasted all of the next day as well. I didn’t consider the beer at first, because I was at a friend’s house whose 1-year old was getting breathing treatments for a cold and thought it was an adverse reaction to that. But tonight I had one of these beers at home and started to get the pain again. I drink different kinds of beer on a semi-regular basis, and this is the only one that has ever done this. No other wheat beers I’ve tried have either. Could it be an allergy of some kind? Any thoughts?

Question by jhan p: what kind of milk without soy or wheat?
what milk do you recommend for a baby who have allergies?

You mean, formula for a baby with multiple allergies? The ‘gold standard’ is EleCare, which you can discuss getting with your pediatrician- generally, almost all babies with severe allergies will NOT react to it.

Vegan lunch box does a VERY good job of having recipes with no gluten or soy. Plus it is vegan so no milk either. If you eat meat you can always add some meat to the recipes she provides.
Gluten-free Goddess also has a good amount of stuff you might like.
Basically, look up gluten-free with regards to starch, and vegan with regards to dairy. That’ll make it much easier to find recipes (and products that you can sub into recipes), since soy and peanuts can be cut out from there. Wheat is covered under gluten so you don’t have to specifically look for wheat-free.

Question by Memento Mori: For people with wheat and/or gluten allergies…?
do you ever have obsessive compulsive symptoms? Or anger issue? I used to zone out really easy too, my eyes would just lose focus and it would look like i was staring at something but i was just thinking.
Because i recently stopped eating wheat and my OCD symptoms went away. I was very surprised by this, I always thought I had serious OCD because I couldn’t control the direction of my thoughts and i have an overactive imagination so sometimes sounds get heard as auditory hallucinations i guess. Might have something to do with my memory though, i can remember sights and smells from my childhood but the memories get dimmer with each day that passes. I was in a car accident 5 years ago and they found some short-term memory difficulty but it could’ve been my undiagnosed ADHD-Inactive (should still be called ADD since there is no hyperactivity).

Well, I’m not sure if I have any OCD symptoms, but I do have Celiac Sprue, and I think that OCD is a symptom of untreated Celiac. You might want to do a little research on that though, I’m not 100% sure.
