Question by : Nutrition/Meal Replacement Shakes for Vegans and Milk Allergy?
I am vegan and I do have a milk allergy. I have a weight issue and I am supposed to drink these to gain weight. Apparently eating 4 meals a day and having a bmi of 16 isn’t okay. Anyways, I had been drinking Ensure Plus (350 calories a bottle) and it had been making me sick. Stupid enough, I hadn’t checked it for milk. And it did in fact have milk in it.
Is there any other nutrition shakes you can buy. I don’t really want to fart around with powdered ones, I like the ones that come in bottles. Vanilla is my favourite. Oh, and I’m in USA, PA, and I’d like to be able to get these in grocery stores.

Question by Xinro: Question for vegans – child with severe food allergies?
This is a purely hypothetical inquiry. I know about the difference between intolerance and true allergies, and this is about the latter.
Strict vegan parents give birth to a child. A little while later, they discover that the child is allergic (and I mean allergic, not intolerant) to soy and tree nuts to the point that the oils can send them into a reaction. They don’t want to give up their diet and really want to raise their child vegan, but are, as any good parents would be, concerned about the child’s health.
What should they do?
I think a few of you missed the major point – that the child is allergic to the oils of it, meaning that if the parent handled nuts and touched them, they could break out, or even kissed them after eating soy.

Question by I luv Pets: What would you make for a pre-school potluck when there are allergies and vegans?
My daughter’s school is having a Pot-luck get together and several children are allergic to things, as well there is one strict vegan. So we are told not to bring anything with Meat of any kind, nothing with eggs, nothing, with shellfish, nothing with nuts or there oils. One kid is allergic to everything but they are not coming thank goodness. This is going to be really hard to find a recipe… oh yeah Desserts and Salads were already taken the first day. So I have to bring some kind of meal.
should clarify, the vegan is Ovid-Lactate Vegan or other words they can have eggs and Dairy. The alergies are eggs, nuts, shellfish. Nothing was said about grains so thats ok I think
kinda agree about the Vegan kid, however they are part of the school too. It is interesting to find non meat recipes. I apologize for not clarifying earlier, I am just reading the thing they sent with my daughter. I dont know alot about Vegan vs Vegetarian. My husband is from India so I cook almost total vegetarian meals but what I cook is way spicy and not usually appealing to American food fed kids.

Bring whatever you like, use meat, and make a little label telling the vegan to get a life.

The first thing that comes to mind is rice milk, but is there anything else? What is the most flavorful brand? 8th Continent Vanilla was superb until I discovered an allergy to soy. So, despite my love for all things soy, soy is out. Thanks for all serious suggestions.
