Question by Janene J: how long can hives last? and can they be caused by dust? or are hives usually food alleries?
I recently got hives they started on my arm then on my chest only on the right side? then on my stomach none on my legs though.. i thought about what it might of been, i ate shrimp and hering last week, i cant remember if it was before or after the hives shrimp ive had before i love seafood my mom after time became allerigc and would get hives from seafood. could i be reacting for the first time to seafood? :( i havent had hering before though, is it possible to be allergic to hering but not shrimp? as far as food allergies im allergic to apples, nuts, milk products, raw vegtablescats dogs trees. ragweed and dust.. as far as dust this also happend same week as me eating shrimp i cleaned out my one computer one day with BIG dust clumps only wearing a tank top and jeans with a can of air sturring the dust all around and also cleaned out my dyson the wrong way and dust went EVERYWHERE in our side room every time i went in there days after id start couphng and felt like i couldnt breath

Idoubt if the dust caused your hives. I get them too and it could be stress related or even caused by some kind of medication you’re taking.

I have a wheat allergy – it makes me irritable and lethargic and I get major skin problems, I also have a problem in that I cannot eat rye bread etc as it makes the lining of my mouth sore and blistery, same goes for oats. ( I have been tested for coeliac and it’s not that)
My son has similar but reacts in a different way – uncontrollable outbursts plus rashes. He also reacts to high levels of sugar in certain sweets and has to be careful about how much coke he drinks..
Daughter number 2 gets depressed and irritable, she is also sensitive to caffiene, daughter 3 shows signs of same – about to start on elimination diet.
The thing is I went through all the tests and hospital visits etc with my son for several years before a dietician finally admitted that was what it was, she said it was “very unusual”, but from what I have heard lately it isn’t.
Can anyone give me any ideas of what is usually linked with these food allergies and what I should be looking out for that I may have missed ?

My 5 month old has a cow’s milk allergy. she throw up violently if her formula has cow’s milk in it. She’s on nutramigen right now.
Will she be like this for life? or do they usually grow out of it and can drink milk eventually?
