my husband wants me to start mixing milk with his formula and I have always heard that if you give a child milk before they are a year old it can cause them to have worse allergies.. he’s almost eight months, and a friend of ours did this with their child at five months but im just not sure about it.

My sis has a bad allergy to all nuts but so far, every brand we’ve read the labels on all say the chocolate is prepared on equipment that has also been used for peanuts and tree-nuts. I’d love to buy a treat for her that is 100% safe for her to eat. We’ve even tried organic chocolate but the warnings are on the labels too.

Best answer:

Answer by Dave C
You can order online.

Also, you can try places like Whole Foods Market or a health food store, natural food store.

Question by Ice: Question about peanut allergies and foods made in facility that used peanuts, tree nuts, etc etc ..?
My niece who is 3yrs old is supposedly allergic to peanuts, but she eats food items that was processed in a facility where peanuts, tree nuts (almonds brazil nuts, hazzlenuts and walnuts) with no problem. My sister in-law is convinced that her daughter is allergic to peanuts when she was about a year old she was preparing a peanut butter jelly sandwich for herself and when she looked away for a one second and looked back is when things were way too late when her daughter had scooped some peanut butter onto her finger and of course placed it in her mouth. Then, her face started blowing up (I wasn’t there), but got a call from my mother in-law letting us know that she has been taking in a ambulance to a local children’s hospital and her youngest son had gone with his wife and daughter. I always thought that if a person is allergic to peanuts he/she could be allergic to foods that was processed in a facility where peanuts have been, but what do you guys think? I know babies under a year old isn’t suppose to have any honey or peanut butter plus eggs, but has anyone experienced this by accident? My sister in-law is convinced that her daughter is allergic to peanuts and hasn’t given her any peanut foods since her incident afraid she’ll have another allergic reaction. Sort of like my sister in-law is convinced that she still has mono when she had it when she was 14 and she’s going to be 24 next month therefore she’s always tired and sleep in till 2pm in the afternoon and always has an excuse pretty much everything she crosses path with. Not sure how my husband’s parents handle her 24/7 or even her husband (feel bad for him) .. so can someone explain to me the difference between the actual peanut in food products and peanuts that were processed in facilities?
I wasn’t sure which category to put this at. I have a 8 month old daughter myself (first time mom) and have been told about several food allergies like the honey, peanut butter and eggs from her pediatrician as well as from family and friends who have had children ..
Thanks everyone for your helpful input in my question.

As for the user: Pippin – It was my business to find out what was the difference between the actual foods with peanut and foods made in facility that used peanuts and other such nuts. I love my niece dearly and her parents and my in-laws know this because I’m a good baker and in the past I’ve made sure that my cookies or brownies or cakes I made didn’t have any peanuts and always informed my brother and sister in-law about my treats being processed where peanuts have been and they were both appreciative that I was looking out for their beloved daughter because I didn’t want my niece to become allergic because of me and I’m very responsible with things like this. So, you should take back what you said because you don’t know me obviously and I don’t want to know you (for sure) and you should think carefully before you actually respond to other people’s questions. So, no points for you. LoL

Best answer:

Answer by garci p
hi!

maybe your niece’s peanut allergy may not be that severe because her body can still tolerate some other food coming from peanut-processing facilities. That is why directly eating peanut products affects her adversely but not those containing trace amounts only.

my best friend’s daughter has got peanut allergy in a higher degree — even the smell of peanut oil sets her off into an allergic frenzy.

I don’t know if they’ll outgrow this sort of allergy but i wish your niece will.

have a nice day!

Question by Brokn: What chocolate candy is manufactured on equipment that is not used for processing nuts?
My sis is highly allergic to peanuts and tree nuts but we can’t find chocolate – even organic chocolate, that doesn’t have a nut allergy warning on the label.
If anyone knows a Manufacturer that produces chocolate in a factory that is free of nuts with no possiblity of contamination, I would appreciate knowing the brand. Thanks so much!

Best answer:

Answer by Gatsbi007
The only way you will not see that warning is if the company does not use any nuts anywhere in their factory. They are not usually made on the same machines (and are generally safe unless she is extremely sensitive) but they have to put the warning just in case some nut dust was in the air and got in the chocolate.
