Question by Stef: Milk to give my almost 1 year old that I think has a milk allergy?
I have been breastfeeding my son since birth and when he was around 4 months he started to get ezcema extremely bad and I realized that it was due to me drinking cows milk (I didnt know I wasnt supposed to be drinking it). Once I stopped drinking cows milk and applyed Hydrophor to his skin he barely has any eczema on his skin and is going to be 1 on the 28th of this month. If he has cow milk or yogurt his skin with turn red around his mouth with little bumps and eczema all over his body will flare up. I think he is winding down from breastfeeding (sadly) and Im wondering what kind of milk should I give him? Do you think he has a milk allergy or lactose intolerance?

I think you should bring this up with your childs pediatrician. However, soy milk would probably be okay for the little guy.

Question by : I think this is part of a milk allergy…?
So I’m allergic to milk. I can’t have milk, butter, or any other milk product of part of milk.
When I have it my stomach hurts, my throat burns, I get bumps and redness around my mouth.
Alright so last week I had a sand which 3 out of the 5 week days. It was on a new type of bread my mum bought. She knows I’m allergic, so stupid me didn’t bother to check the ingredients for milk since I already thought she did before she bought it. The past week I’ve felt like total shit. Nausea, stomach ache, TONS and TONS of mucus, and a sore itchy throat, and I had bumps in my mouth. I thought I was getting sick.
I had that bread again today, checked the ingredients and it had milk and butter. FCUK.
Could all that feeling sick be because of the milk in the bread? You know, could they be symptoms of a milk allergy?

Yes, it could be . Take Benadril and see if you start feeling better. But also it could take few days to get better completely. For my child it took almost 1 week to get rid of all the symptoms after he was in contact with peanuts. But is it is allergy symptoms, after Benadril it should get better. Hope this helps.

Question by Waiting4Forever: Do you think certain foods should be banned because a child has an allergy to it?
LIke, if a child is deathly allergic to peanuts… Should peanuts be banned from the school? What about if your child is deathly allergic to wheat? Milk?
I think that if you ban [insert allergy] to protect children who are deathly allergic to it, then you should ban [insert different allergy] to protect the kids who are deathly allergic to it. I don’t think it is fair to protect kids who are deathly allergic to [insert allergy] but not protect the kids who are deathly allergic to [insert allergy].
Hypothetical situation: Your school bans peanuts because one child has a deathly allergic reaction to it. However, your child has a deathly allergic reaction to [insert different allergy] but the school refuses to ban it. Do you think it is fair to protect one child but not the other?
What about for elementary? Middle school? High School?

It’s not right for a school to ban an allergy for one kid, and not do it for another kid with a different allergy. I’d be pretty pissed off.
My son doesn’t have any allergies thank god. But his daycare bans anything with nuts in it. Only because there is a kid with a but allergy, but it’s not deadly.

You might be allergic to some of the other ingredients in bread. Most of the stuff on the shelves is soooo processed it’s got all kinds of chemicals in it. I’d pick up some organic bread, or make your own for a week or so and see if that helps at all.

Question by pamcarter: What do you think about the recent cases of food fraud?
Foods, esp. from other countries being mislabeled, such as expensive sheep’s milk cheese actually being regular cow’s milk cheese. This can be life-threatening to someone with milk allergies. There are many other examples. Does the FDA need to crack down on these food frauds?

There are plenty of laws but the agencies are not enforcing them, everything related to government is so inundated with payoff and the politicians that are supposed to oversee the departments are so corrupt that anything goes so long as they get their cut.~
