Question by I Help The Noobless.: Why do i feel really sick after drinking milk?
I’m NOT lactose intolerant, and i don’t have any allergies.
The milk wasn’t going off, and i had it in a milkshake form.

I feel like i’m going to throw up every time i have any milk at all, and i never used to be that way.
Mind you, i never do throw up.

Thanks.

You may be lactose intolerant or developed a milk allergy. Have it checked out. Allergies can kill, so don’t drink or eat stuff with milk before you get it checked out.

Question by eeyore: I got sick the last two times I ate shellfish. Am I allergic?
When I was a kid i would love to eat shrimp (from the homestead along highway 2 in north Idaho) but would get sick vomiting the few times i ate it. I stayed away from shrimp and shell fish as well as crab for about 20 years. when I was 26 I had some clam chowder for the first time that I can remember and again I was throwing up and had diarrhea for two days. It seemed like food poisoning rather than the typical shellfish allergy of hives and what not. I have never had an allergy test to check. The Homestead was not a gourmet place and a friend told me he had got sick from the place that I had the clam chowder. Is this typical of an allergy or just bad luck that i got food poisoning. Should I just clear my weekend and give it another shot?

its either food allergies or food poisoning depending on how the shelfish tasted bitter or sweet did it taste rubbery or nice and weldone. mostly id recommend seing a doctor because it could turn into serious matter if not watched carefully.

Question by josh: Don’t have an allergy to vegetables according to the allergist but a get very sick if I eat them, why?
After skin testing they said I have an allergy to tree nuts and ragweed but really nothing else. But if I eat vegetables or some fruits I become very sick to my stomach a few hours or in a few cases a few days later. No doctor can seem to figure it out and I’m almost out of health insurance. Soy, bananas and broccoli are the worst.

josh – It may NOT be the vegetables, BUT it could be something on or with the vegetables that you eat. For example, butter is very commonly put on cooked vegetables to improve the taste so that you might be sensitive to dairy and milk products (a lactose sensitivity). You might also have some “heartburn” from a hiatus hernia which could allow stomach acid juice to back up into the lower esophagus. There does not appear to be a common substance in all the foods you mention that could be the one cause of your getting sick from so many different foods. You could try to avoid dairy products or take lactase enzyme tablets with any possible dairy type foods (tablets are available over-the-counter in any pharmacy).

My granddaughter is sick almost every day. She drinks on average 3 pints of full fat milk every day, eats very little and has projectile vomiting. She does have an allergy to Soya which is excluded from her diet but is still being sick. Could it be she is having too much milk?
