I am not quite so bad, I have a problem with the shell fish that used to make my nose itch. I stopped eating them for about three years and then ate something with prawns in – and had to take adrenilin. Allergies seem to get worse as you get older.
Your boy should get a medical id chain or bracelet so that ambulance/hospital staff know his problems even if he is too unwell to tell them. NextofKin is one which is not very expensive. They take your details and keep them. Infact they send you a pendant – though you can buy others online, a keyring which has your membership number and two medical alert cards to be carried in wallet etc. And, there is a passport/key return facility all thrown in. Not bad for £12.99.
This important as some medication could have traces of these things.
Good luck.

Question by asdfsdf: if you are not allergic to shrimp, can you still be allergic to iodine?
several months ago, i thought i was allergic to shrimp, seeing that i broke out into hives after eating them (it could have been other factors). but i recently got a blood allergy test, and i am not allergic to shrimp or shellfish or any seafoods. is it still possible that i might be allergic to the iodine in the shrimp and not the shrimp itself? or does the allergy test mean that i am neither allergic to shrimp nor iodine?
im pretty sure it isnt iodine.. because i eat fish and clams without any problems.. (and they are delicious)

Question by tdcmfan11: Shrimp allergy question?
I’m allergic to shrimp/ shellfish. If I were to eat something that was fried in the same deep friar as the shrimp (like if a piece of shrimp and a piece of chicken were fried together, or one after the other, etc.), would I have an allergic reaction?
Best answer:

Its quite possible that you would have a reaction, but there’s no way to predict exactly what will happen since people’s sensitivities differ and even the amount of shellfish residues in the oil vary with the number of days the oil is used.

Question by Cosmogypsy: Shrimp Allergy?
I developed a shrimp allergy my senior year in high school. I developed a bad case of hives so I stopped eating shrimp for about 5 years. Then one day I tried to eat shrimp again with success. I continued eating shrimp for about 2 years when I again broke out in hives. It has now been about 6 years and I want to eat shrimp again. I eat all other shellfish and I have never had a reaction. Could this just be bad shrimp or could I be allergic?
