Question by Tk: Does your kid have a milk (or food) allergy? If so, I have a few questions?
Do you totally avoid giving your kid that food? or just in moderation here & there?
How bad is the allergy or what is the reaction?
My 17 month old has a milk, egg, soy, and peanut allergy. I definitely avoid giving her anything with nuts, but what about things that contain milk? She was once on milk based formula for 2 months & she just broke out all the time.

First of all, hopefully she’ll grow out of some of those allergies because most kids do.
I’m allergic to milk and have it rarely. For me, too much can cause constipation. My soy allergy does not bother me too much and I eat it a few times a week. As for eggs, I can never eat them because I have such a harsh reaction.
How the allergy affects your child really depends. You should talk to the doctor that diagnosed/tested for the allergies. It might be wise to keep her off those foods entirely until you consult her doctor about it.

Question by Don B: my boyfriend is allergic to shellfish please help me with some questions?
hi my boyfriend is allergic to iodine.so that means he is allergic to shellfish.i try to avoid shellfish out of respect and i don’t want him to be around it.our friends took us to a buffet and it had seafood there too.well i ate one small bit of shrimp and felt bad so i threw them away.so that it wouldn’t make him feel itchy or uncomfortable.is it true that you cant kiss someone who is allergies to shellfish, have intercourse,or touch anything in the house without a chance he will get a reaction?i read a few things that kind of scared me about allergic reactions and i didn’t know they were that serious.please answer my questions.even doctors will help big time answering them..thanks everyone.oh also how long do i have to wait to kiss, or touch someone after eating shellfish?

My uncle is like that. He is allergic to any seafood. And if you even touch him with having any seafood and stuff on your hands then he gets a major reaction. Don’t know how long you have to wait-sorry. But I think that this is only for some people. Not sure though. I think it only depends on how allergic they are to it.

My son is 20 months old. it seems like when he has milk he either throws it up or gets diarreah. This has been happening for almost a week now. At first I thought he was sick. I don’t give him cups of milk that often, he gets calcium from other foods. Over the past month or more he has gotten sick requently and thinking back it seems to be after drinking milk. Some told me he may have a milk allergy or be lactose intolerant. The thing is he eats cereal with milk in it, he eats cheese and yogurt, he also eats ice cream. This doesn’t sound like an allergy or anything to me, maybe just a coincidence? what do you think?

I have a 10 1/2 month old daughter and I need some opinions on if you think this is an allergy or waht I should do. I gave her some yogurt for the first time about 1 1/2 weeks ago. 3 days later no reactions so I gave her some more. by that evening she was really gassy and fussy and got a bit of a red rash around her mouth. She normally is constipated, After the yogurt she didn’t have diarrhea, but she had regualr baby poo instead of the hard rock she normally has. Now a week later, I tried giving her a little bit more yesterday of a different kind of yogurt to see if it was something in that kind that I gave her the second tiem around or if ti really was the dairy in the yogurt. Now, she does not have a rash. She is not fussy or gassy, but now she has diarrhea. She’s already pooped 3 times today and she is a one BM a day baby.
I really do think it is possibly a milk allergy now, but I’m still so confused. In the past she has had ice cream and whipped cream both have dairy, but no reaction or diarrhea. Why now with the yogurt? I was looking forward to starting whole milk in a few months, but now I don’t feel like I can. I am going to call her doctor, but I just want some opinions. Do you think its an allergy or lactose intollerance and why has it not bothered her before?
She is on a milk based formula. It is Enfamil Gentlease. It has the broken down proteins. It is only for up to 12 months. If she does have a milk allergy, what am I supposed to give her after a year if I can’t give her milk. The only toddler formulas I can find are soy, which she can’t keep down and regular milk based without the proteins broken down.
