Question by Lysh Bryanna: Babysitting questions.?
My daughter is starting babysitting in the summer, 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday), she’s babysitting her two cousins, which are 3 and 5, I know I wouldn’t be able to handle them myself, seeing that they enjoy to argue and cry if they don’t get what they want. She will be leaving at 7:30AM, and riding her bike, and start babysitting at 8:00AM and then finish at 5:00PM which is a nine hour day and ride or get a drive back.
I think for a day care it’s 50 dollars a day, so for two kids that 2,000 dollars (Canadian)

She’s a bit scared because she knows they are terribly bad, but if she gives them a time out they will tell, and the mother will be mad(she spoils them, and NEVER gives them trouble, even if they are lying)
so she doesn’t want to discipline them but if they are being bad she’ll have to, but she doesn’t want to seem like a bad person either, so do you think its alright?

What’s a good price for babysitting 9 hours a day 4 days a week? I was thinking 30, or 40, for the whole day.

And also good websites for activity’s, recipes, learning, letters for children to do, and for her to teach.

The 3 year old has allergy’s, and needs a epipen, which will go into the fat in his thigh, but do you think it’s alright if she doesn’t know how to, her aunt told her how to use it, and show’d her. But she doesn’t want to have to use it, just in case. He’s allergic to nuts, and nut trees.
Any options, so she doesn’t have to use it.
Her aunt said it will be fine, and she doesn’t care if she’s never used one.
But she wants everyone to be safe.

I took a Red Cross babysitting course. We were taught that if you are watching 1 or 2 kids your price should be about per hour. If the parents of the children are pretty wealthy and the kids can be very naughty, I’d go up to per hour….. times 9 = dollars….. Bring it down to to make it easier on everyone…. Good luck!

Question by Lark 25: Some Allergy questions – I am new to this…?
Ok, I have had a lot of stomach problems for the last 3 months or so. Well, I went to an allergist on a hunch (I knew I was allergic to eggs because I would get severe diarrhea after eating them) and I found out I was allergic to:

eggs
wheat
fish/shellfish
coconut
shea nut

I have been told to avoid these foods – even though I used to eat stuff with eggs in them (like cakes and cookies) and never had a problem, it was just when I ate an actual omelet or something.

I have been on an egg-free, wheat-free, everything else free diet since I went to the allergist which was about a month ago. WOO-HOO!

This is what scares me: Anaphalactic Shock. The only thing I have ever had happen after I ate something I didn’t know I was allergic to but was was nausea or diarrhea. NEVER rash, NEVER swelling, NEVER hives, NEVER breathing troubles. I even asked the Allergist if he thought I should get an epi-pen and he was like “no, if you accidently eat something you’ll probably just feel sick like you did before, I don’t see you as someone who is at risk for Anaphalaxis.” Is this right? I am really scared about that…

Also, I am afraid that now that I don’t eat any of those items and something happens where I “accidently” ingest one of them will a reaction be worse because at least before I was ingesting that stuff on a daily basis wouldn’t my body be building some kind of immunity? Now that I don’t have any of it wouldn’t the immunity be gone?

Help me please, I sorta feel like my world’s been tipped upside-down…

Oh, also, I am 24 and NEVER had any food allergies when I was a kid – this is all stuff I found out about a month ago. (If that helps…)

You’re mildly allergic i wouldn’t worry about heavy symptoms and seems you are doing what you need to for the problem.

Question by Tina: questions bout peanut allergies and babies?
me and my boyfriend are planning on having a baby soon but i am deathly allergic to pnuts and tree nuts i was wondering if anyone here has any similar problems. or if there will be any complications like child will be allergic or something

Best answer:

Answer by Liberty Belle
There is no hard scientific proof that allergies are genetic. Of course, it is wise to assume that your child may be more inclined towards an allergy than others, but this is not an absolute. The newest recommendation is that children not ingest any peanut products until age 3. If he does happen to have a reaction take him to a PEDIATRIC ALLERGIST to determine level of sensitivity and if it is a ture allergy or simply an intolerance.

Question by circa_0823: Peanut Allergy questions?
I am severely alleric to peanuts/any kind of nut. I am pregnant as well with my 1st child. Is is possible that I can pass this allergy onto my child? is this allergy hereditary? cause absolutely no one in my family has this allergy.

thanks

Best answer:

Answer by String Bean
I have a peanut allergy too and absolutely nobody in my family does. If it works that way around I’m sure it can work the other. Some allergies are genetic but others are picked up in the lifetime so you might have got it when your immune system was developing not from your parents. There is no way to tell in advance if your child will have an allergy but you can hope and it won’t be the end of the world.
