Question by Cat: How to get enough protein?
I’m a vegan and I have an allergy to wheat/gluten.

Apparently I’m not quite getting enough protein, so how what low fat vegan foods can I eat to get more?

Thanks!

Vegan protein shakes? That’s what I depend on as a vegan body builder.

Question by Heaths Mommy: baby has cows milk protein allergy should i keep pumping……?
hi Ladies my son has a cows milk protein allergy i have cut out all dairy, wheat, soy and beef which was advised by the pediatrician ( been doing this for about 3 weeks now) so no other allergy’s come out! he was on breast milk but was very gassy, fussy and would cry while feeding him we changed him back to formula which he has been on for four days he is doing much better! i spoke to my family doctor today he suggested i keep pumping and maybe use the milk when he is a few months older( hes a 32 week preemie) just wonder if i should keep pumping or just leave it there will still be a chance he cannot have the milk?? has anyone else done something like this how did it turn out… or should i just let myself dry up??

Question by Angel#3: My daughter has MIlk Protein Allergy!?
My daughter was diagnosed for Milk Protein Allergy at 6 Months old, when I tried to give her youghurt, she broke out of rashes and vomited, almost could not breathe. She was brestfed till she was 1 year old, and never had any problem with my milk(I eat dairy). Now she is 2 and a half year old, drinks ricemilk, growing fine, but it`s starts to get more and more difficult, since she can`t eat what other kids eat and drink at school and b-day parties. We can`t even kiss her after eating dairy, because she breaks out in rashes, and ichy bumps. Her doctor says almost all kids outgrow it by age 5-6. Is anybody know a child who has outrown the milk allergy, or can give me some advice how to cope with it?

Question by squadcar15: fussy 7 week old… milk protein allergy?
I have a beautiful, wonderful 7 week old baby girl who has been quite fussy the last month or so. She has moments of happiness, and calm where she smiles and makes me feel like the greatest mom in the world, but a lot of the time she fussy and cries out as if she is in discomfort… I think that she is crying out from gas… she burps quite often and farts even more. I took her to the doctor last saturday and he thought that maybe she had some silent reflux because she doesn’t spit up, but i can hear her making strange swallowing sounds when she isn’t eating and they gave her a perscription for previcid. i think that is helping a little, but I am more concerned now about her gassiness. The doc also recommended switching her formula from similac advance to similac sensitive. I think maybe changing it to enfamil gentalese might help somewhat, but I just don’t know. Could it possibly be a milk protein allergy? I have tried just about everything…. she usually burps after and during feedings, she burps randomly when she isnt’ feeding… I have tried mylicon drops… i have tried rubbing her belly and doing the bicycle movements with her legs.. She just seems to get really uncomfortable if she isn’t in her swing or walking around on my sholder. laying her on her back makes her cry, so i have be sleeping her on her tummy (with a very watchful eye). Do any of you out there have any experience with milk protein allergies? What are the symptoms? any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

my son was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy.

when i was breastfeeding he was okay. but my milk started to dry up and he wasn’t getting enough to eat so i had to supplement.

i gave him regular similac and he was vomiting violently, gassy, miserable and his stool was white colored explosive diarrhea. as if he didn’t digest the milk at all.

of course i freaked out, went straight to the doctor and i switched him to similac isomil advanced which is a soy formula. he is now almost 10 months and doing great. he didn’t like the taste at first…but he was fine once he got used to it. we did the switch at around 4 months.

the only thing that i noticed was that his stool has a toxic smell to it that could clear a room..lol.

ask your doctors office for a sample. and even if your baby doesn’t have an allergy the soy formula is good for gassy or stomach sensitive babies.

good luck

ps…..i haven’t given him an milk products yet…I’m waiting until he is a full year to see if he is over the allergy. because if your child does have an allergy…if you don’t aggravate it, you have a chance of it going away on its own.

Question by Bianca: My daughter has a milk protein allergy. She turned 1 and we tried giving her whole milk?
She has been having loose stools and has developed a rash all over her body. I know it is a reaction from the milk. From what I have read you should not give babies with milk protein allergies soy milk or lactaid…what do you give them????????? I have read things about goats milk and rice milk?
also do they sell goats milk at the regular grocery store…I mean i have never looked for it so I dont know
She is also allergic to Soy. She was on a hypoallergenic formula. Soy formula gave her bloody stools.

Goats milk, same thing I grew up on since I have a milk protein allergy which I passed to my daughter. It is an acquired taste, but great when you get used to it.
