Question by alexgirl: I’m a Celiac (wheat and glutin allergic) plus have a spastic colon! Any ideas about what to eat?
I have two major problems with the tummy: wheat allergy and a spastic colon. If anyone out there has these two conditions together to deal with (by the way, my doctor says I’m the only one in her practice who has the two conditions to deal with) — I’d be interested in how you keep things under control and give your diet some variety. I’m really limited at this point and losing weight. I do take lots of a pro-biotic and acidophylis which is a big help.

Best answer:

Answer by Fly Butterfly
Ideas: Meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts, salads, cheeses, stir fries using tamari instead of soy sauce sauce, rice pasta with bolognase sauce, chicken schnitzels using corn flour and GF breadcrumbs, peanut butter, eggs, omelettes, GF pancakes, rice noodles, stuffed capsicums (minced beef and rice), spinach and ricotta stuffed capsicums, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, fish coated in rice flour and fried…. there’s so much out there, you just need to be creative. Be careful of buying fries from fast food places, they are often cooked in the same oil as other battered foods.

What do you think? Answer below!

Just was diagnosed with that. Makes my stomach swell and hurt and gives me gastrointestinal problems! It sucks… What can I eat? So far I’ve got oatmeal, fruit, and veggies…

Answer by mograeire
I know from experience that soy allergies are difficult to deal with. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to avoid dairy and wheat as well. Making foods from scratch can help because a lot of prepared foods contain soy, even ones you wouldn’t suspect, like canned soups. Some brands are better than others, but I only read ingredients for soy so I couldn’t tell you which brands would be best for you. Allergic Girl Resources may be able to help you (easy to find with Google). She runs safe dinners out for people with food allergies.
Here are some foods I can think of:
any meat you want
vegetables (other than soy of course)
homemade chili (no cheese, but it’s something)
homemade stir-fry (season with spices and use oil instead of soy sauce)
rice (I read that some grains may have been cross-pollinated with wheat so you might want to check that this is safe by asking your allergist)
modified versions of many recipes:
substitute a safe grain for wheat
substitute spices and lemon juice or olive oil for soy sauce depending on the recipe
substitute soy beans with other beans
substitute tofu with meat (sorry, but being a vegetarian with a soy allergy isn’t very practical in my experience. If you want to try to maintain a vegetarian diet try nuts and beans that are not soy)

My daughter is a month old i breastfeed for the first two weeks and i couldn’t do it anymore she sucked blood blisters on my nipples and cracked them. I tried pumping, lactation consultants, everything plus my milk seems to make her miserable i switched her to formula and started putting cereal in her bottles per doctor to make it thicker in her stomach because she spits up a lot she is always fussy, gassy, does this sound like a milk allergy to you? My question is when i feed her bottles she can suck on them for almost an hour and not get anywhere sometimes and other times have no problems? i sqeeze the nipple and milk comes out i even sucked on it myself and it comes out i thought cereal was clogging it and i even thought the nipples were bad then it was all of them. Does this sound like tongue tie and does it sound like milk allergy would soy help?
