Question by perkowskirocksthehouse: i’m having a birthday party and i know that some people may have nut allergies, ive checked all the food i hav?
i have checked all the food and it either says allergie information: wheat, milk, soy or something like that but nothing about nuts. the thing is i was looking at the cake mix and frosting and it said notihng about allergies. does that mean it doesnt contain nuts?

if it contains nuts there will always be a warning label,
even if it does not contain nuts there may be a label saying “product has been made in a factory where nuts are used etc” something like that, or may contain traces of nuts.
if you do not see any warning messeges about nuts then you are fine

Question by *~*All my luv*~*: Milk allergy and first bday party?
My daughter has a severe milk Allergy (requires an Epi Pen) and a moderate allergy to egg whites (not egg yolk though) Her first bday will be May1st and I have no idea what to offer for food at her birthday. I was thinking about having regular cake and ice cream for the guests and family, but what do I feed her?? It doesn’t seem fair to eat what she can’t have in front of her. She goes to see the allergy specialist but that appointment is after her bday. He is going to give us suggestions and guide lines for feeding her, but I need to know what she can have at her party. Any creative ideas? I would really like to hear from moms who have children with allergies. thanks ahead of time:)

Have a birthday pie instead of cake! You’ll have many flavors to choose from and what’s the difference? There is no rule that is HAS to be cake! Best wishes and hope the party goes well!

Question by WoodstoveNewbie: What to serve at an informal party foods potluck gathering.?
Okay, so this Saturday I’m hosting a little get together. I’m a bridesmaid for a wedding this summer and we’re getting together to assemble invitations. We thought it would be fun to have a potluck of appetizers/party foots/finger foods and some beverages. There will be about 10 of us ladies here for what could turn out to be a long night of giggling and gossip. What should I make? We have one shellfish allergy to contend with. I thought I should have more than one thing made since I’m the host. I’ve got red and white wine, plus juices and pop. Help!

Question by Allison L: I need cute allergy safe food ideas for a Finding Nemo themed birthday party for a 2 year old. ?
My sons birthday party is next weekend and he loves Nemo. So we are doing a themed party with lots of food and snacks. The issue is that our two little cousins that are going to be attending have food allergies. The one is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts (and now possibly wheat as well) the other is allergic to egg and dairy. Now the entire party is not going to be dairy, wheat, and egg free as there is going to be a lot of people in attendance BUT I want the kid themed items and snacks to be safe for both boys. I am also doing a pinata but I have already worked out all of the fillings and they are safe. The issue is sea, ocean, Nemo themed snacks and treats that are all peanut, tree nut, dairy, egg, and now wheat safe! Any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

I do not think you can find a snack that fits all those categories. Unless its granola or something.
My suggestion would be to plan two separate “allergy friendly” snacks. Maybe the “Nemo orange” items could be nut/wheat free. And “Dory Blue” items could be dairy/egg free.
