Question by Tyson: How long does it take for a dog to get over a food allergy?
I think I may have pin pointed what my dog is having a reaction to, green grass treat saver (it has wheat and all those other fun things that make them react). However, does anyone know how long before symptoms would go away if I stopped giving him the treats? The last time he had a treat was sunday and it is now saturday (so almost a full week).

it matters how strong it is and how long it digests its food. also its age and weight. try and take him to the vet to find his allergy and treat it may need a prescription to treat it.

Question by alicelizabeth.: my peanut allergy is taking over my life?
i live in constant paranoia. ive known about my allergy for a couple of years now and been ok but ever since a few months ago when i shared a glass with someone who had eaten peanuts and had an allergic reaction. i have been living a nightmare.

i can never be comfortable eating anywhere but my own home, because i am constantly worried about cross contamination of the use of peanut products etc. i am literally washing my hands 20 times a day to wash away “peanut particles” that i think i may have picked up through the day.

it is just taking over my life, i cannot go out and have fun because i am constantly scared that by touching or eating the wrong thing i will end up having a reaction.
is there anything i can do to get over this? it is literally ruining my life.

You are developing OCD. Contact a therapist that can help you. It is really not something you can handle on your own.

Question by concrete girl: peanut allergy over time?
Ok, I’m aware you can develop peanut allergies over time, but my question is a little different.

I used to eat peanut butter sandwiches every single day for about three years, for lunch at school. I soon got tired of it and stopped eating it except for the occasional peanut butter candy. I have suddenly gotten a craving for a peanut butter sandwich, but my mother is deathly allergic to peanuts while my father is not at all. Is it possible for me to only be allergic to it in a larger dose, like in a sandwich other than a a smaller dose in a candy over time? Any information would be helpful. (:

no if you are not alllergic to it in small doses i dont see how it would be possible for you to be allergic to it in large doses

Question by Smurfette: Is there a way to get over a food allergy?
I’m allergic to shellfish (so far: crab, lobster, clam and shrimp).
When I eat crab , lobster, and shrimp, my lips get cut and swell up and feel numb for hours. As for clams, just the *smell* of all things clam-related turns my stomach and makes me retch.

I love shrimp way to much to completely stop eating it. For this reason, I only allow myself the treat once a year. The last time I had it, a month ago, the unfortunate vomit incident occurred. :-(

Tell me: is there a way to get over this? A monthly shot or something?

I am not sure about shellfish but I would suggest you stop eaating it if it makes you feel that way. Some foods give me bad itchy watery eyes so I started taking Claratin every now and then untill I pin point what it is. Try asking your Dr. or WebMD.

You could start introducing a small amount of milk products back into his diet and see if there are any adverse effects. Gradually increase the amount until you see if anything is going on.
