Question by .: What is the reason a person with low cortisol must not eat wheat?
I was diagnosed with very low levels of cortisol (adrenal failure). Why was I told not to eat wheat? Doctor “ran out of time” to talk and never did have the time to explain it to me.

I tested negative for celiac’s. I never was tested for food allergies. The paper from the lab had instructions to eat wheat free.

WHY??? What’s the connection between low adrenal function and no wheat diet, please? Thanks!

I have no idea.

I have no adrenals. I eat wheat.

I was told to increase my salt intake. The reason for that is that when the adrenals do not function, salt is not retained and adrenal crisis can result. Some with AI do have to limit potassium intake as with adrenal issues, when sodium drops. potassium rises and that can be a problem.

Perhaps you need to call the doctor’s office and ask. If you cannot get a good response, then find another doctor.

One doc says that since it is an allergy, it doesn’t matter how much dairy I eat – even a little bit will affect my baby. Another doc says dairy in moderation is OK. Who’s right?
