Question by 12-25 Never Forget: How much of what people thought was peanut allergies was really just a bad reaction to salmonella poisoning?
How long was that factory in business selling tainted peanut butter? I mean, if you ate some and got sick you might have figured you have peanut allergy, right? How would you know the difference between peanut allergy and salmonella poisoning?

food allergy symptoms are very different from salmonella poisoning. food allergies cause anaphlactic shock. your mouth, tongue, or even throat swell, depending on how allergic you are. also, itching and rash might be present. salmonella poisoning will cause diareah, vomiting, painful stumach cramps, and all kinds of g.i. distress. vomiting is a symptom that your body wants to get rid of whatever it is NOW.

Question by kelly h: What does too much calcium in my babys blood mean?
My daughter has had bloods taken for her calcium levels. They have come back that they are slightly higher in her blood, rather than in her bones. My doc said that she isn’t specialised in this area with children, so I would need to wait for the hospital appt for them to tell me more.

Can anyone give me any more indication of this matter. Is it serious? Is it something that i’ve passed onto her? etc etc

She is currently 16months with a wheat allergy

Thank you

Question by Inmate No. 6602224175: Why do you think allergies to Meat are so much rarer than allergies to foods like Wheat or Nuts?

Krister – that makes some sense, but then by that logic we could eat human flesh without health consequences, which is definitely not the case.

People are allergic to the proteins in a lot of foods. Most vertebrates have fairly similar proteins in their flesh so you are not eating anything that you don’t already have. Plants and shellfish are built very diferently so you are introducing completely foreign stuff into your body when you eat them.

Question by ilove_twilightmovie08: Is this too much too ask?
Okay, I have a severe allergy to tree nuts and I live with my parents and two brothers. They eat nuts in front of me and after they eat them, they don’t wash there hands. They also stick there dirty, oily nut hands in bags of food like carrots, chips, etc. They put their hands on handles, doorknobs, and everything I touch. So, my question is, do you think it is too much to ask of them to not eat nuts in front of me, and to wash their hands before touching things that I touch. I get extremely anxious and nervous when they do this. Please no rude comments!!!
