Question by MaluLanix0x: Why would my skin be itchy, if my allergy test 9 months ago was negative?
When I bake, any flour that gets on my skin makes me so itchy! I tested negative for a wheat allergy & celiac disease (9 months ago), so i dont know what is wrong. i also tested negative for a peanut allergy/sensitivity, but sometimes if i get peanut butter on my skin, i get itchy too (not as bad as the wheat). i do bloat a lot, and i think wheat products do cause it (i dont know for sure). i am lactose intollerant.

Reactions outrank allergy tests!

Allergy tests are not 100%.

I have had anaphylaxis to a food that tests negative on the allergy tests.

Go with your gut.

Question by Mackenzie B: Is it ok to only breastfeed 8 months?
My son is 8 months old and I’ve been breastfeeding. Here is the reason I am thinking of quitting.

He’s allergic to milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, and bananas.

I’ve been diligently ( I think) keeping these things out of my diet for the past 2 months. It is so hard though, and I’m not eating right..not getting enough protein, etc. However, it is so hard because these products are in EVERYTHING!

The allergist says the only way to outgrow the allergies is to not have the foods in the diet at all. So if I mess up and eat something, it affects him. I also wonder what else he’s sensitive to in my diet.

At this point, I think special formula (Neocate or Neutramagin) might actually be better for him in the long run. What do you think?

Question by Mother of 2: How should I wean my 6 months old with allergies and dislikes soy milk?
My son is 6 months old and I would like to start weaning him, but he has been tested for milk and egg allergies and is positive. I am returing to work in 3 months and would like to start him on the bottle, he has recently started solids, (rice cereal) but does not like the taste of soy, and will not take it. I have tried water in a botte and he does take it, so its not the bottle or cup its the taste of the milk. I dont know what else to give him, when he was taking the regular milk, he was taking it, but then his eczema would flare up. I am also worried that he may have other allergies that is why I would like to start weaning.
I’e tried to pump, but i can only get 1-2 onces in a sitting. My milk flow is really slow, frustrating really!

Question by end is forever: Epipen expires after only 6 months, is this normal?
A few years ago I was diagnosed by an allergist as having an allergy to tree nuts. He prescribed me the Epipen.

Everytime I go to buy one, it seems that it only lasts about 6 months before it expires and I have to get a new one. Only once it lasted for 8 months before having to be replaced.

Are the pharmacists screwing with me? Are they giving me the soon-to-be-expired Epipens?

Is it possible to get an Epipen that lasts for a year or more?

What’s the average length of time your Epipen lasts for?

Thanks.

Medications should have a 2 year shelf life from the time you pick them up from the pharmacy. You pharmacist apparently is not going through enough of this particular medication and it is sitting on the shelf for a long time. Try a different pharmacy.
