My daughter is a month old i breastfeed for the first two weeks and i couldn’t do it anymore she sucked blood blisters on my nipples and cracked them. I tried pumping, lactation consultants, everything plus my milk seems to make her miserable i switched her to formula and started putting cereal in her bottles per doctor to make it thicker in her stomach because she spits up a lot she is always fussy, gassy, does this sound like a milk allergy to you? My question is when i feed her bottles she can suck on them for almost an hour and not get anywhere sometimes and other times have no problems? i sqeeze the nipple and milk comes out i even sucked on it myself and it comes out i thought cereal was clogging it and i even thought the nipples were bad then it was all of them. Does this sound like tongue tie and does it sound like milk allergy would soy help?

How did you know your babe had the allergy? I am begining to really wonder if Lilah is allergic to cow milk protein. The child spits up ALL the time – she is 8 months. She also has ezcema which didn’t appear until we introduced formula a few months back.
She seriously spits up sometimes 10 times in a 20 minute period. It’s all the time. She doesn’t act like she hurts, I don’t think it’s just reflux. I have just been told she “will grow out of it”, but I think it’s more than that.
So, if your little one had the allergy to cow milk protein, how did you find out? What were his/her symptoms?
Here is a link as well:http://www.drgreene.com/21_1230.html

My daughter developed pnuemonia after I introduced her to cow’s milk a few weeks back. My pediatrician wasn’t sure if it was triggered by the milk or not, or if it was a coincidence that they occured at the same time. I was instructed to give her formula until she was 100% better. I have done this. She is back to normal now. No wheezing or coughing. A few days ago I began to try to introduce the milk again. I started with 1/4 of the bottle being milk and the rest formula. She did fine. Now I’ve bumped it to 1/2 of the bottle milk. After about 1 hour of feeding her she woke up coughing and having the mucusy wheezing again! The doc said if it happened again we could try lactose free and if that doesn’t work maybe soy milk. Has anyone else ever experienced this? What type of “milk” did you end up giving your child? I also wondered if goats milk or rice milk would be another option. Also, her formula is a cow’s milk based, so why doesn’t that cause the same reaction?

What did you do for their first birthday cake? Our (soon to be) 11 month old daughter was recently diagnosed with a severe milk allergy, so we are steering clear of anything with milk in it for a long time. I was soooo looking forward to having a picture of her smearing her cake and icing all over herself, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen. I’ve heard of making a little jello cake out of a jello mold and giving her that to play with and eat, but wanted to hear other ideas too. Thanks!!
