Question by SpecialHeart<3: When are you’re best “Looking” days – When u eat some junk in the day or 100% healthy?
TOday I was absolutely feeling great and looking beautiful when I was eating my usual low carb meal plan. After I ate two chewy granola bars, my face began to bloat even though it has a low GI of 19g carb. So now Im looking terrible and face is puffy. What could be up – an allergy to wheat or what? I dont get it.

Yeah sounds like an allergy. It doesnt matter what you eat in a day, you will look the same the next day. As long as it doesn’t keep repeating.

Question by Lara L: How do I get My Sheltie’s coat looking healthy?
I just adopted an 8 year old sheltie. She is very over weight and her coat is very coarse; I tried brushing and misting and also started her on california natural (wheat free; she has a wheat allergy) food which promotes healthy skin and coat. Is there anything else I can do to improve her coat? Are there special shampoos, conditioners, daily sprays? Can I use my hair products on her; I use dove products for damaged hair?

The Shetland Sheepdog’s beautiful coat requires, at a minimum, a thorough weekly brushing with a pin brush. Be sure to get right down to the skin, and never brush a dry coat. Use a spray bottle to mist it as you go to prevent damage to the hair.
Your Sheltie will need extra brushing during shedding season. Males and spayed females generally shed once a year, while unspayed females shed twice a year, a couple of months after each estrus period.

Question by Karla: Looking for a carrot cake recipe without eggs, sugar, and milk. (allergies). Help?
I have tried w/honey & also w/maple syrup. These work OK, but my cake doesn’t rise very well.
My recipe doesn’t call for milk; just didn’t want to get answers that did.
I’ve tried egg replacer; that worked OK. I also tried tofu in place of eggs; that seemed to work OK. I guess I’m looking for suggestions on how to make the cake rise better – it calls for 2 t of baking soda for a 9×13 pan. Also, it seems a little dense. Maybe more flower would help?
I’ve been reading vegan cookbooks for about 6 months now – ever since I got my allergy testing results. However, the problem I still run into is the sugar and what to substitute for it.
I can’t use Splenda/sucralose – it’s made from sugar.

My 2yr. old son was diagnosed last year with allergies to soy and dairy after I complained to his doctor that he has chronic loose stool/diarrhea, and a rash around his mouth.

We have eliminated milk/soy, and he is quite happy drinking rice milk. He still has loose stool, however, and it gets worse from time to time. He almost never has a formed stool.

The last day or so it has been bad, the only new food he’s eaten is Natural Ovens Brainy Bagels.

He tested negative to wheat, eggs and rice on a skin prick test, but I’m wondering if he has developed some type of intolerance to something?

What is the best way to eliminate gluten for a toddler? Remember he is already avoiding dairy, soy, all nuts and peanuts (siblings have allergies).

Help!
