I know from experience that soy allergies are difficult to deal with. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to avoid dairy and wheat as well. Making foods from scratch can help because a lot of prepared foods contain soy, even ones you wouldn’t suspect, like canned soups. Some brands are better than others, but I only read ingredients for soy so I couldn’t tell you which brands would be best for you. Allergic Girl Resources may be able to help you (easy to find with Google). She runs safe dinners out for people with food allergies.
Here are some foods I can think of:
any meat you want
vegetables (other than soy of course)
homemade chili (no cheese, but it’s something)
homemade stir-fry (season with spices and use oil instead of soy sauce)
rice (I read that some grains may have been cross-pollinated with wheat so you might want to check that this is safe by asking your allergist)
modified versions of many recipes:
substitute a safe grain for wheat
substitute spices and lemon juice or olive oil for soy sauce depending on the recipe
substitute soy beans with other beans
substitute tofu with meat (sorry, but being a vegetarian with a soy allergy isn’t very practical in my experience. If you want to try to maintain a vegetarian diet try nuts and beans that are not soy)

Question by Mystery Gurl: Lactose and Wheat Allergy! Help please?
Hi, my boyfriend is allergic to wheat and milk products. Everytime he eats anything with either of these things he gets rashes on the back on his neck. The doctor told him that he is lactose and wheat intolerant. He had to change his eating habits completely. I thought it could celiac disease, but in that the person is allergic to gluten which is present in oats and soy milk as well. He seems to have to have no problem oats or soy milk. I looked up on google about the proteins present and common in milk and wheat. I guess he is not celiac. I am not sure. Could anyone help me figure out if he has celiac disease or not… he is frustrated most of the times that he cant eat what he wants.. if you have any questions about his diet. let me know ..

I’m lactose intolerant and allergic to wheat. I just got my blood drawn to be tested for Celiac Disease and if my results come back positive, I will then have to have an intestinal biopsy in search of damage from the possible disease.
You can easily request to be tested for CD. 1 in 133 people suffer from CD so it is quite possible he has it.
I have other food allergies as well and I have come to enjoy finding alternatives for food and recipes I used to be able to eat.
I’ve come to love rice and vegan snacks, although I’m not a vegan/veggie.
The good thing about vegan snacks are that they are dairy-free (lactose) and they are usually wheat-free because wheat is not meant to be digested by humans. (It is suppose to be digested by animals with more than one stomach. In the human digestive system, it never completely digests.)

Some great online stores to buy wheat-free & dairy-free products are:
Allerenergy
I Can Eat It
The Allergy Free Shop

When eating out, I usually ask for a lettuce-wrapped sandwich and I take note of what restaurants will make it and which ones won’t.

Although I miss the foods I used to be able to eat, I’d rather feel good so I’m willing to eliminate the foods I cannot tolerate from my diet. It’s a mind over matter thing.

Try to venture out with some wheat-free & dairy-free foods. He’ll be surprised at all the foods he CAN eat. At school, I’m always teased about my alternative/substitute meals of what they are having but it’s worth it and some of it tastes better than the ‘normal’ version.

If he has any other food allergies, add them and I’ll share some tips if I share the allergy. Good luck! And don’t let him give up. He’s not alone.
