Did you breastfeed and make all of the necessary eliminations from your diet or did you use formula? How long (how old was the baby) was it before he/she outgrew the allergy? I’ve been breastfeeding for 5 months, he has a CMP allergy. I just weaned him and now regret it, wondering if there was something else I could have done, I had already for the past 3 months eliminated from my diet anything w/ CMP in it …but it seems like he became sensitive to everything I eat, that’s why I did it. He was in pain and is much better since we switched to formula. Anyway, I’m thinking maybe I could have done something different. I miss nursing him, eventhough it has only been about 4 days since I stopped. I hate doing the formula thing…I find it a real pain in the a**, and I know that breastmiulk is better. what to do?

I am currently awaiting the test results to find out what all my son is allergic to since something he is eating drinking or coming in contact is causing to vomit and have diarrhea. I am thinking it is a Milk allergy. So if that is the case many food we eat contain milk or are made with milk. So now what do I do? He is four and I am afraid he might not take to lactose free milk products. Does anyone have any suggestions? Other Information he couldn’t tolerate regular or soy based formulas as an infant. He was on Simalic Alimentum.

My daughter is a month old i breastfeed for the first two weeks and i couldn’t do it anymore she sucked blood blisters on my nipples and cracked them. I tried pumping, lactation consultants, everything plus my milk seems to make her miserable i switched her to formula and started putting cereal in her bottles per doctor to make it thicker in her stomach because she spits up a lot she is always fussy, gassy, does this sound like a milk allergy to you? My question is when i feed her bottles she can suck on them for almost an hour and not get anywhere sometimes and other times have no problems? i sqeeze the nipple and milk comes out i even sucked on it myself and it comes out i thought cereal was clogging it and i even thought the nipples were bad then it was all of them. Does this sound like tongue tie and does it sound like milk allergy would soy help?

Hi,
My son is just over 4 weeks old and cries all day when awake; its very rare that he has anytime awake when he isn’t crying and seeming in pain. Our GP thinks he may be colicky so suggested we try infacol which didn’t seem to make much difference (we’ve also tried all the anti-colick bottles going!). We changed his formula from cow and gate comfort to aptimal at the beginning of last week which seemed to calm his belly a little but didn’t stop the crying! We saw a paeditrician on friday about a seperate matter and he suggested he may have reflux so prescribed infant gaviscon; and guess what? the belly ache has returned with a vengence and hes now constipated too! So we are going to stop using it as its made him worse rather than better.
I was wondering though if anyone knows what symptoms come with a milk allergy? He’s not a very sicky baby (he might throw up a mouthful after a feed but thats it) and he’s putting on weight well so far. However, he does get a lot of diarrhoea, belly ache (like colick, with a red face, pulling legs up, etc) and he also has a rash all over his face, shoulders and chest which the doc says is milk spots but look quite severe to me. As i say, he also cries constantly whenever hes awake. Do you think he might have a milk allergy? What symptoms should I look for?
Thanks for your help!
