Question by W(aL)D: If you had a deadly allergy, would you trust fast food employees to handle your food?
If you had a deadly allergy, would you trust fast food employees that were “trained” and “certified” in cross-contamination and allergen issues?

Do fast food employees get a bad rap? Are they more diligent in job duties than they get credit for? Do they few “bad eggs” make up for the rest of the good diligent workers?

I recently wrote to Taco Bell about my shellfish allergy & their new Shrimp Taco. This is what they had to say:

“…to our customers who might have Shellfish allergens, we have displayed information at multiple locations in our fish. These include Shrimp allergen signs that are placed on our window and door clings as well as in our ads where orders are taken. While the Pacific Shrimp Tacos are offered for a limited time only, all Taco Bell employees have been trained and certified to not have any food products come in contact with Fish and Shellfish during cooking and/or serving.”

Would you trust this if you were me?

NO Not at all. Years ago when I had oral allergy syndrome, I would always request a burger with no lettuce or tomato. They would omit the cheese and leave the lettuce on. I wanted the cheese! I had seven resturants in a row all get my order wrong. They can’t even omit the lettuce if you are allergic to it. Don’t trust them with something else.
