Question by cupidgirl: my friend blames her 5 yr old son’s behavior on his peanut allergy?
he is totally out of control- hits, screams, demands, throws fits.
she rationalizes that he is that way becuase he has a peanut allergy & she says that he is a frustratd person because he never got to live a “normal” life because he cant eat peanuts & because he has to be careful all of the time & is aware of his “condition”. so he doesnt feel like a normal person or something…
is that the biggest load you ever heard, or what?

She recently went on a trip and mostly ate bread, cheese, and herring. She was tested negative for shellfish allergies and also negative for pregnancy. Could this be anisakiasis aka herring-worm disease?

Question by madmom: a friend had a possible allergic reaction to shellfish, she woke up next morning with rash swollen face & lips
this happened same way once before next morning after eating shellfish but reaction not as severe as this morning. Is it normal to have a reaction like this several hours after eating something like shellfish and is it possible to be tested for this allergy?

It most certainly sounds like an allergy to shell fish, which is common.

First off, she needs to stop eating it. Secondly, for possible allergic reactions one should take a Benadryl immediately.

Her doctor can refer her to an Allergist for testing.

I want to give my friend some cookies (not necessarily peanut butter cookies), but I don’t know what types of cookie mixes are peanut free. Maybe I shouldn’t give her cookies, any other food ideas? It has to be something that can be bought at a grocery store, like Super Target.

My friend has a peanut allergy and cannot eat any different forms of it… Like Walnuts, Cashews, etc.

I was wondering what would happen to him if he even eats one? Can he die from just one bite or make him very ill?

Depends on the severity. It could range for redness in the face to Anaphalatic shock followed by death.
