Question by cadance610: If I am allergic to milk, can I still consume it in the cooked form?
I’ve recently had my allergies tested… I found out I am allregic to milk, corn, potatoes AND tomatoes. It’s going to be so hard to find foods with out milk! Does anyone know if I can eat it in the cooked form? Such as… alfredo sauce, cookies, ice cream.. etc? Thank you!
Thank you so much everyone, it’s going to be tough picking a best answer. Basically, I was wondering If milk was cooked.. if it broke it down to where I could eat it. Obviously I can’t. I am a vegetarian and already normally do not consume milk. The only times I really do is if it’s baked/cooked in somthing. But not I can’t even do that! Thanks again everyone

Answer by caramelcoatedhoney
Well most people are lactose intolerant without even realizing it. Milk from cows was never meant for human consumption, but we have adapted to it. It really depends on what milk does to you. Is it just gas like most people or is it more serious? I would suggest staying away from anything you’re allergic to. Besides, there are many alternitives to traditional cow’s milk. Try soy milk, almond milk or lactose free milk. If you have a reaction, you’ll know what not to do next time.

Question by Aspiring Crazy Cat Lady: My kitten has bumps on her face, head, neck, behind ears, & front arms that itch & then form scabs. Any ideas?
My kitten is about 6 months old & within the last month or 2 she has broken out in bumps in the aforementioned areas. She scratches until they bleed & then they scab over. I thought a wheat allergy. Her iams kitten food does not have wheat, but her new litter did. We changed the litter, but no change in a week. Probably not that.

It was suggested that it might be a plastic allergy. So, I changed the food bowls to ceramic, but how do you find a cat box that isn’t plastic???? All her toys are mostly plastic. Her food comes in plastic bags.

I have ruled out bugs…I think, as she was treated three weeks ago with Advantage. Also, my other cat has no signs of bugs and was also treated.

I talked to someone at the vet office about running a couple of trials at home before taking her for allergy tests, as the test runs at 0. It’s a lot, so I would like to run trials first. She said it’s okay. If anyone has other ideas, please help.

Best answer:

Answer by Rumpleteaser
Sounds similar to what my mum went through with her cat and still does to some extent. Now don’t laugh… he was allergic to fish.. I know a cat that’s allergic to fish… but thats what the tests came back with. He still itches the scent glands on his forehead but they put a cream on to ease it for him.
