Question by no*more*chocolate: Milk Allergy: Are these typical symptoms???? OK, first of all I know I was stupid so please don’t tell me.
I’m 31 years old and have just been diagnosed as having a milk allergy. The allergist figures I have been allergic since childhood but other doctors have put the symptoms to other things… When I realized there was a problem it was because I broke out into hives, in addition to the normal gastric and migranes I normally felt.

But two days ago, I ate a tiny sliver of pizza with cheese on it and that cheese sent me into a tale spin. First hives, then immediate violent vomiting (so bad that I also vomited blood, pulled muscles in my right rib cage and did something to my throat!) On top of this while not really labored breathing was difficult and my chest felt really tight.

So that one little sliver of pizza sent me to the ER. Does anyone know if this is normal and WHY after 31 years of being a milk product junky that it would get this bad so quickly? I mean now even my shampoo, that has a milk rinse added, causes my head to break out. AHHHHH
The question is:

Does anyone know if this is normal and WHY after 31 years of being a milk product junky that it would get this bad so quickly?
I hadn’t been taken off milk before, my family doctor had always put it to other things, the gastric symptoms were IBS and the migranes were well, migranes. It was only when I went specially to an allergist that they diagnosed (through RAST) the milk allergy. I have only been “off” it for about 2 weeks and I haven’t been doing very well but after this episode I am now convinced I CAN”T have any. But still wondering if vomitting blood is normal.

Question by soddy21: can i get a first class medical or any medical if i have a peanut allergy?

Answer by Techwing
A peanut allergy would not affect you in flight, unless you were eating peanuts, which would be easy to avoid. So you should be able to get a medical. Allergies are only an issue if they are likely to interfere with flying. Food allergies are thus not likely to be problems.

However, you won’t know until you actually apply for medical certification. I haven’t been able to find any specific dispositions for food allergies (whereas respiratory allergies are well covered), which is usually a good sign. It’s important that you not be taking any prohibited medications for your allergy, but that’s unlikely for a food allergy, anyway.

If you’re having trouble breathing, breaking out, throat closing, eyes crying, or any symptoms, contact an allergist or doctor. Even if not, it’s still a good idea to get allergy tested. This is a great way to know if you are allergic to peanuts and other foods. I’ve had a peanut allergy my whole life and all of the symptoms i’ve listed apply to me during an allergy attack. Consult your doctor or allergist ASAP and stay away from peanuts.

Question by *~*All my luv*~*: Milk allergy and first bday party?
My daughter has a severe milk Allergy (requires an Epi Pen) and a moderate allergy to egg whites (not egg yolk though) Her first bday will be May1st and I have no idea what to offer for food at her birthday. I was thinking about having regular cake and ice cream for the guests and family, but what do I feed her?? It doesn’t seem fair to eat what she can’t have in front of her. She goes to see the allergy specialist but that appointment is after her bday. He is going to give us suggestions and guide lines for feeding her, but I need to know what she can have at her party. Any creative ideas? I would really like to hear from moms who have children with allergies. thanks ahead of time:)

Have a birthday pie instead of cake! You’ll have many flavors to choose from and what’s the difference? There is no rule that is HAS to be cake! Best wishes and hope the party goes well!

Question by `: The first humans were fruitarians… doesn’t this intertwine perfectly with the Garden of Eden story?
“Primitive” humans ate only raw fruits and vegetables… fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts can be eaten freely without any adverse effects (for healthy people w/o allergies) whereas more modern food such as meat, dairy, eggs are cholesterol and saturated fat-laden and are unfit for human consumption, causing an array of illnesses that other animals are not prone to.

People who believe in Evolution should take a look at this. Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

You see, the first humans did thrive on such a diet and that’s why you sometimes hear miracle stories of people healing their diabetes by going on a raw vegan/fruitarian diet… it’s because it was the original diet appointed by God, and it was the diet intended for man before the fall…
Ishtar – Try saying that you can’t thrive on a vegetarian diet to the Buddhists in China who are pure vegetarians… or to the 400 million vegetarians in India many of which avoid dairy?

Look no further than America, there is an estimated 1~2 million vegans living here, and 20 million vegetarians…

Einstein was a vegetarian.

B12 is found in soil, unwashed vegetables can provide it but are not very reliable as they were before modern agriculture & chemicals that killed it…
HC – I see those pointy teeth but they’re pathetic compared to the ones found on other omnivorous animals. I mean, if you’re really going to use that argument, why don’t you try biting on a pig’s neck and then try digesting its flesh raw as an omnivore would? Good argument… SIKE

There is no such thing as a fruititarian. The word you are looking for is herbivore…..
