Question by Jemma: milk allergy developing at 7 months?
my daughter has been ill for 4 days (high temp, irritable and sore throat) so she has been having calpol. Over the last 48 hours i’ve noticed a rash all over her face and back and have noticed…after careful monitoring that it worsens and gets more red straight after a feed. Nothing has changed like washing powder diet or her milk. She is on cow and gate 6months + and has never had this problem before, so is this because she is ill or signs of an allergy?
doesnt look like a heat rash tho

Question by Telepharmavangelism: I’m just developing allergies left and right– help?!?
So I was born with a peanut allergy, which is no big deal after having it your whole life. However, in the past 6 months, my amount of allergies have SKYROCKETED, and I’m finding new ones each day. I’m vegetarian and have been for a couple of years now, because I can’t digest meat and it causes problems for me (that, and, animal rights own everything else).

So you would think I could eat soy, right? Milk, perhaps?

Well, I used to. I’ve been lactose intolerant since I was young but milk never posed TOO much a problem, but alas my parents had me drink soy milk.

unfortunately, one of my allergies developed is soy. My question is how do you develop an allergy to something you’ve had your whole life? And my allergies don’t stop there: I have oral allergy syndrome, and I’m allergic to grass and trees, so therefore my tendency to be allergic to fruits and vegetables is quite high.. and I’ve discovered a banana, pineapple, pea, apple, and corn allergy with that.

So what can I do? Do I just have to suffer along with this? I went to an allergist, and the tests confirmed all these allergies and more– plus all pine nuts and such. No one has any answers as to WHY these allergies may be developing.

I feel like a small little tadpole in an ocean. Help?
He told me to continue using Zyrtec once a day (for seasonal allergies) to see if it’d do anything, but it hasn’t. Unfortunately, skim milk induces the worst acid reflux for me. If it’s not one problem, it’s another.

First of all, drink skim milk. It contains no soy or lactose.
Did the allergist give you any prescriptions that could help?

Question by Sarah: Developing a peanut allergy at age 22?
My husband, who is only 22, told me a few days ago that whenever he eats peanuts his throat swells up a little and he has trouble swallowing. He also told me that his eyes start tearing and twitching whenever he ate a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. He says this has been going on for a few months and he just thought to mention it now (typical guy behavior). It sounds like a peanut allergy or intolerance and he said he’ll go to the doctor (and stop eating peanuts in the meantime) but is it common to develop an allergy like that when you’re in your 20′s?

You can develop an allergy to anything at any time. I learned this after I had a reaction to a medication that I had been taking for over 10 years.

you can develop an allergy at any point in your life. See an allergist to get tested.

Just randomly I got a wheat allergy (or coeliacs) and lactose intolerance (or a milk allergy) the doctors aren’t exactly sure.
But it seems that a lot of the people around me seem to be developing allergies out of the blue when they were perfectly fine before. Have any of you noticed this?
