Question by wishnuwelltoo: Are there places you could dine out in the Dallas area if you have food allergies?
My friend has a baby with food allergies. He is allergic to wheat, dairy, soy, nuts, sesame seeds. I am wondering if there are places you could dine out if you have so many food allergies. Since so many places have to use peanut oil to cook with it would seem impossible. Are there any places that allow you to call ahead and maybe they could prepare the child’s food separately? We are looking for places in the Dallas, Mesquite Texas area. Please don’t give rude answers. Thanks in advance!!!

Question by Kayla: Could my son have a milk allergy or is this just transitional?
My son just turned 1 a week ago, and we began giving him whole milk instead of formula. He has since become very irritable, but I thought that was just him becoming a toddler. He has been quite constipated, though, and he cries in pain when he has a bowel movement. He doesn’t have any other signs of a milk allergy, and the formula he was on before was normal cow milk-based formula. I have been giving him 1/2 formula and 1/2 milk and he seems to be doing better.
On his first birthday I began with a sippy cup of whole milk with breakfast, and he didn’t reject it so we continued with just the milk in place of formula. I’m wondering if this is actually a milk allergy or if it could be because of the sudden switch, maybe his digestive system isn’t yet able to handle so much of the milk. Any help is appreciated! We are going to the doctor this week for his check-up, and I’m wondering if I should try to make his appointment sooner or if this is somewhat normal.

It’s something I would definately talk to your doctor about. My little girl went through the same thing. We put half soy milk in her whole milk and that helped. If I were you I’d keep mixing in the formula with the whole milk, or just stick with formula until you get to the doctors. Many people are lactose intolerant, it’s actually pretty common.

Question by Slana Y: What could be a reason my tongue is itchy?
I ate a hot cocoa with marshmallows (the Swiss Miss type). Now my tongue itches. I never took an allergy test, but my sister is allergic to nuts, corn, wheat, soy, sesame seeds, and a whole lot of other stuff not including dairy. Could it also be I possibly have an allergy like my sister, too?
My tongue isn’t itchy when I drink the cocoa without marshmallows. When I ate the marshmallows alone(without cocoa) today, my tongue also itched.

Question by Katie: Could a symptom of food allergies be reddened skin?
So my food allergies run in my family. I used to be allergic to tomatoes. My sister is allergic to corn, wheat, soy, etc. I take claritin once a day for outdoor allergies.
I have a REALLY red face and red/rashy arms. Could this be allergies?
If it is, how would I ask my mom to get me allergy tested?
Thank you so much!

I put her on good start soy she did ok just spit it up all the time. So we switched her to Isomil. She did really good for awhile then just one day she stopped pooping and is gassy again. how old is she now? her poop should not be hard if she is not on solids yet, you should talk to her ped. about formulas, it sounds like she is getting too much iron, but no it does not sound like an allergy. ask your ped, about good start, it is the easiest to digest
