Question by Pure Kenergy: Why would wheat beer cause chest pain?
I noticed an odd thing that has happened 3 times to me now after drinking specifically Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat beer. Shortly after drinking it, I will have an irritation in my esophagus that feels like a mix of pain and heartburn. The feeling the first time I drank this beer caused a couple of shooting pains into my throat, and the pain lasted all of the next day as well. I didn’t consider the beer at first, because I was at a friend’s house whose 1-year old was getting breathing treatments for a cold and thought it was an adverse reaction to that. But tonight I had one of these beers at home and started to get the pain again. I drink different kinds of beer on a semi-regular basis, and this is the only one that has ever done this. No other wheat beers I’ve tried have either. Could it be an allergy of some kind? Any thoughts?

Question by monmon: Can food allergy cause fever?
My 6-month old baby ate whole wheat cereal this morning for the first time. After 1.5 hours, he had low grade fever (99.4 F). Can this fever be related to what he ate?
He is behaving normally, I am just worried because of this temperature. What do you think?

Could be,I would stop the cereal for a week and see how she does. Then try again,if it happens again then you know for sure.Always give each food a week trial before starting another when they are this young to check for a reaction.
Chances are if there are no known food allergies in your family, then your baby is not likely to have one as well.
If fever gets higher with other symptoms such as rash, then take her to the pediatrician.

Question by tonireese0314: What possible medical reasons can cause unexplained weight gain?
I had Gastric Bypass 3.5 yrs ago. In the last 6 mo. I have been steadily gaining weight. I eat right. I don’t eat anything that I shouldn’t. I have even cut out things that I thought MIGHT cause problems, i.e potatoes and rice. I don’t eat any wheat based products (I have an allergy to wheat) I stick to meat veggies, fruit, and some dairy. If I allow myself a treat, it is a sugarfree popsicle, or fudgesicle. I am very fustrated. I have gained about 40lbs and it is scaring the heck out of me. I would have to say the only bad thing that I do, is probably not get enough exercise. But even at that I am probably only eating between 1200-1500 tops in calories, but I have put on 4lbs in 2days. I am going to go insane if I can’t find the answers. A friend suggested that maybe I am eating to much fruit. As far as the lack of exercise, I can understand maybe not losing, but the gain is what is so puzzling. This is why I am looking at maybe a medical reason. I did have my thyroid checked, its okay

My godmother had a cyst in her tummy for years without even knowing. She thought she was just gaining weight, but it was actually the cyst growing. This or a tumor could cause it, you should really see a doctor.

Question by Claire: What foods never cause allergies in babies (breasfeeding Mom)?
My 3 month old baby has ezcema really, really badly. I’m breastfeeding. The doctor says he is probably allergic to something I’m eating. So, I’m not eating any milk products, nuts, eggs, chocolate, or citrus. It doesn’t seem to be working though-he still has bad ezcema.
What foods can I eat that are proven never to cause allergies?I would like to go on a diet of just these foods in hopes his ezcema will go away.
