Question by Karlee N: What are the best wheat free dry food brands and where can I get them?
My dog is Wheat free and I don’t think that her current dry food is going well for her. Also, what treats are wheat free. I’m rather new to this allergy thing. I feel bad when I can’t reward her for being good (for a Jack Russell). What sort of thing can I give her thats not like pigs ears or bones?

Best answer:

Answer by Pythoness
The best wheat-free dry food brand that I know of is Nature’s Variety Raw Instinct (which I think is just called Instinct now). This is the dry kibble that I feed to my dog. It is dry kibble, it isn’t raw, although it is meant to be rotated with their raw diet, you can feed it as a stand-alone diet. It has NO GRAINS WHATSOEVER. It’s great. You didn’t say where you are in the US, so you’ll have to go to their website and use their retailer locator to find a store near you that sells it. As a reward, use dessicated liver. You should be able to find it at most pet supply stores, under lots of brands. It’s basically real, raw, freeze dried liver with no added colors, flavors or preservatives. You can find freeze dried chicken treats too, but they tend to be more expensive. If you want to give her things to chew on, look for raw marrow bones.

What do you think? Answer below!

Hi !¸
My daughter is almost 5 months and showing definate interest in eating. She has severe cows milk protein allergy ( throws up every time I drink milk or milk products– I’m breastfeeding– then has explosive diarrhea) and wasn’t gaining weight until we figured it out and I eliminated dairy from my diet.
My question is this; the nurse at my doc’s said to be watchful of baby cereal, most contain milk proteins. If it says can be diluted with water, then it probably has milk powder inside. Do you know a brand of rice cereal (the one recommended for starting) that contains none? Also soy is not an option, because of the milk allergy, I have to wait until she is at least 9 months because of greater risk of allergy. And what should I dilute it with ? Water ?
