Question by stonewifey: My son is allergic to regular milk and I was wondering what brand of soy milk is a better alternative?
Yes I talked to his pediatrician but I would also like to hear from other mothers who have kids with allergies…like my little boobykins.
He was on Similac for 2 mths and his skin broke out badly. He’s been drinking good start soy and he’s been fine ever since but he’s 12mths now and he’s almost off the baby formula.

Is it an actual allergy (as tested by an allergist with a blood test or skin test) or just an intolerance?? Many times, with milk based intolerance, babies often can’t tolerate soy.
My DD had an intolerance to milk protein, and couldn’t use soy formula either. She was on Similac Alimentum for almost 10 months.
ETA: Sorry…I looked back and saw that you said milk, not formula. : )

Neither according to current studies are health even without allergies.
If you enjoy whole grain for cereals, & bread Wheat Gulten would be the best choice. Soy is suppose to confuse your hormones.

Question by 5dfggf4f: Is there a reason why I feel better after drinking kinds of milk?
When I was younger, I felt really sick after drinking skim/fat free milk. A few years ago I changed to 1% milk and I started to feel a lot better. If I was lactose intolerant or had a milk allergy, wouldn’t I feel better drinking the fat free milk? Why is this happening? Any reasoning or just the way my body is responding?

I can’t figure it out. There’s a lot of health risks associated with soy milk, versus no risks (besides choking or allergy) about drinking skim milk from a cow. Soy milk has more fat, more sugar and less protien per serving than skim milk. I’m just trying to figure out why people think soy is better?

My youngest daughter has a milk allergy so I’ve switched the whole family to soy milk. I’ve heard many people say they use rice milk to cook.
