Ok, I think you mean hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). My wife has Menieres and I have celiac disease which is gluten intolerance. We eat the same foods and what has worked for us as both a way to lose weight and also to maintain the weight loss is the Atkins diet where you control the amount of carbs you eat and focus on eating the good carbs such as green, leafy vegetables, low glycemic index fruits and in general manage food intake. Some great cookbooks for this are the three written by George Stella. They have easy to follow extremely tasty recipes and I use his cookbook a lot. All but 3-5 recipes in each cookbook are naturally gluten free and concentrate on using good for you foods.

Question by Bobby Boy: What is the best way to gain weight given my food allergies and dietary restrictions?
I’m trying to gain weight, but I’m having some trouble. I’m a vegetarian and I’m allergic to peanuts and tree-nuts. That limits the sources of protein I can eat.

I try to avoid eating a lot of dairy because of the environmental impact, but have less of a problem with eggs. However, I don’t think I can eat eggs all day without getting sick of them.

Are there other things I can eat that are important and will help me gain weight?

eggs, beans,

sneak some whey protien powder into your food.

you are self limiting and are going to have to choose at some point between your “spiritual” desire for some imagined environmental impact with dairy and your overall bulking goal.

- keep in mind that animals die in the harvesting of crops too, so if your reasons for bieng vegetarian are purely spiritual and not “taste” or “nutrition preference” based, then you are yanking your own cord and likely taking in a lot of jaded informaiton by people who just want to throw crap.

- i’m not crapping on vegetarians, just the people that toss out lies about meat/vegetarian diets that cause people to make a choice for the wrong reasons- and often end up leaving those selfsame people missing important aspects of nutrition.

with a severe nut allergy like you have, you are already limited and should seriously consider re-examining yoru diet-

eggs, however ARE an optimal source of protien.

Question by Maritime Mummy: Giving seafood (shellfish) to a toddler…what is the recommended age now, and what is the best way?
…to introduce? I’m not a shellfish eater only because I hate it, but my husband and his family are, big time. Lobsters almost every week during lobster season. No allergies in our family (that goes for everything). She’s had other high-risk allergen foods. She’s 1.5 years old.
Ah-HA! So it *IS* younger than 2 now! Our daughter’s doctor has my husband convinced that she must be at least 2 before even getting lobster on her skin. I figured it was the same now as introducing peanut butter, etc, which I’ve already done.
To Jada’s Mommy: Sorry to hear that, but to be honest, what’s the difference between introducing at one age and not another? If my daughter ends up allergic at 1.5, she’ll still have the same reaction at 5+…I just don’t understand withholding this kind of stuff.

Sounds fine. Just cut it into small prices like anything else so she doesn’t choke. But if she eats some and her lips get puffy, her face gets red or anything of that nature get her to the hospital. It doesn’t sound like you’ll have any problems, though. So I wouldn’t worry too much, just be prepared.

Question by Setep Woodrow: What is the best treatment for food allergy?
I have had peanut allergy, I consult with an allergen he told me to avoid nuts from my diet. I’m a vegitarian so it is not possible for avoiding all nut.Is there any other way to cure it totally? Should I stop eating a food if I think I’m allergic to it?

“Is there any other way to cure it totally?”
Well there is a possible way but it’s too dangerous. Something like desensitization, or like curing a phobia. The idea is keeps eating peanut (until too much maybe, so the body is not too sensitive to it again).

But like I said, it’s too dangerous, even I wouldn’t suggest, or even no doctor would suggest you to do it. And furthermore, I said it’s only possible, not a 100% guarantee.

“Should I stop eating a food if I think I’m allergic to it?”
Yep
