Question by jaxs921: Has anyone had their pediatrician given them the OK to switch their baby from formula to milk before a year?
My sons pediatrician said it was ok for me to switch my 7 month old from formula to whole milk. He said because he is eating fruits, veggies and cereals so well, is healthy and does not have a milk allergy, it would be fine. I am comfortable doing this, I am just wondering if anyone else has been told this?

Question by curiousperson: are there any symptons of a wheat gluten allergy in young kids..what would u look 4 before a diagnois?

Best answer:

Answer by momwhoknows
In my son’s case, his stool was yellowish. After removing gluten, his stool turned from yellow to brown. We did test him for wheat allergy and casein antibodies. He was negative for both. His food intolerance panel showed that he could not digest gluten. If you see undigested food in the stool, this would be a good sign indicating the need for digestive enzymes.
Some kids are diagnosed when they have a bad behavioral response to a certain food. Milk, wheat, soy, corn, and peanuts are common allergies. You can ask your dr. to order an allergy panel. Milk made a kid crazy and when this was removed, the behavioral problems disappeared.

Question by nicky.pacific: Can a person develop a shellfish allergy after NEVER being allergic before? ?
I grew up on the Oregon coast, lived there for 16 years and ate seafood almost constantly. About four years ago, on my parents’ anniversary, we had lobster. I had to be rushed to the emergency room. From then on, I avoided lobster, however have still been eating crab, oysters, clams, shrimp, scallops, etc. with no noticeable issues. About a month ago, my boyfriend took me to Red Lobster. I ate lots of shrimp, a bit of crab, fish and one tiny bite of Lobster. I was dizzy, nauseous, had stomach cramps, my heart was thumping hard in my chest and I was having a hard time breathing. I chalked it up to eating TOO much of it all. A few weeks ago, we had crab at his house. Same result. Two nights ago, we had tacos, he put four medium shrimp in my taco and by the time all four had time to hit my stomach, I was starting to feel a bit woozy. So, needless to say, I’m a bit paranoid of my favorite food. Is it possible to develop an allergy to something after a history of none?

Absolutely. My step-father ate seafood all the time and one day he got really sick after eating shrimp and hasn’t been able to eat in since. The allergic reaction just came out of no where after 35 years of eating seafood.

Well that kind of narrows down a lot of what I would eat, but in your case I would suggest eating a banana. As for the water, it depends. I wouldn’t drink more than one bottle though.
