He was never diag. w/ a milk allergy, just had digestive issues as a newborn and tolerated soy well. Has been on soy since 1 month old and is now 6 months old. I would like to switch back to similac advance instead of isomil. I have read some controversy on soy.

Answer by bubbles_bubbles_2003
well my daughter was on soy and she was never really got Dag with milk allergy’s her grandmother is a nurse and she thought just to try it and my daughter was fine on it. we did not Switch her back at all to regular formula but when she turned a year old we tried whole milk and she did fine on it. but if you really want to put him back on the slimilac stuff i would do it really slowly like an 2oz of soy stuff and an oz of the silmiac stuff until its all the way to just the slimilac stuff. good luck. i would talk to you dr about it too.

Question by Amber25: can a toddler be allergic to whole milk if she was not allerigic to cow based formula?
My daughter started vomitting when we put her on whole milk. I tried soy milk and she still vomitted so we ruled out a milk allergy. Since then she has had an upper gi showing refluxing. The meds she is on now does not work. So could this just be acid reflux. I just don’t think she can be allergic to milk since she was on cows milk based formula and she does have milk before bed and she doesn’t throw up at night any.

I have a preemie baby born at 32 weeks gestation. I think she has a milk allergy (both of my other kids do) The doctor says she needs formula with the extra calories and I am unable to find one that is non dairy. Does anyone know of a formula like this? She is supposed to have 24 calories per ounce. Right now I am feeding her neosure by similac and she just seems so uncomfortable always grunting and she is very gassy. Any suggestions would be so helpful. Thanks a ton!

my 1 month old was showing signs of a milk allergy so our pediatrician had us swich to a soy based formula to help with everything. she can burp easier now, is a lot happier, sleeps quietly at night now without the grunting, and no longer been projectile puking. It has only been five days though. but since we changed the formula she has had severe diarhea that is really mushy and god awfully smelly. is this normal for an infant to go through during the transition of switching formulas?

My baby is 14 weeks old. I started out breastfeeding but I had to switch him over to Similac w/ Iron. His poop has never changed. It’s still kind of loose and he poops at least 5 times a day or more. He is gaining weight and has no other issues. Pedia says to leave him on it but I am paranoid because my other son has a milk allergy and was on soy. I don’t really want to switch my baby over to soy because that constipates but I just don’t think his poo is normal for a formula fed baby. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My 5 mo old son has been on a hypoallergenic (very expensive) formula since age 6 weeks due to a diagnosis of lactose intolerance and milk allergy/sensitivity. Now that he is on solids he seems to tolerate milk products well and I am attempting to change to a regular formula to save money. Has anyone else tried this? Been successful? Today he is getting half and half and seems to be doing fine. I know what to look for with the lactose intolerance, but the milk allergy diagnosis was shaky so I am not sure what to look for.
