Question by savannah: I got my allergy test back and need some help?
I got a food allergy test because I wanted to know which foods I might be allergic to and this is what came back:
Wheat
Oats [highest]
Corn
Rice
Soy
Tomato [mild]
Strawberry [mild]

Am I screwed in the food department because all the normal alternatives like soy, rice and corn or on the list? Like if I didn’t want to eat wheat I can’t have corn or rice pasta! What could I choose?
Also with dairy, I avoid dairy but if I can’t have soy, rice or oat milk what can I have?
oh ok thanks proud mamma for helping me!
what is the “Food challenge”? is it where you test your heart rate?
i don’t get rashes from the foods but i do think i get heightened anxiety attacks after eating the foods and my chest feels heavy.
no i did another blood test and it said i wasn’t celiac yet i have wheat listed, hm

Best answer:

Answer by jay
you should ask your doctor

Question by bbonecutter: Genius child loves to run back and forth?
I have a 9.5 year old son. He is very intelligent / borderline genius according to some tests we have given. He is socially pleasant and makes friends easily. He has gluten / wheat allergy that could be celiac disease, but we did not get a final diagnosis. He is healthy now, but has struggled with gross motor skills (sports) / and certain visual processing / memory (math facts).

One of my biggest concerns at the moment is that given a choice, he would run back and forth between two objects (about 10 feet apart) for hours. Seriously. Give him a toy, he will not be interested. He will go and run back and forth. He has been doing this for years and now he is almost 10! What is going on and what should I do? I can’t imagine this will be a good thing when he is 18!

Best answer:

Answer by ladynamedjane
It almost sounds like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, I would talk to his Doctor, my husband has this and if he is not on him meds he does things like he can’t concentrate on anything but wants to be doing something….it wears one out to just watch them. good luck

He was never diag. w/ a milk allergy, just had digestive issues as a newborn and tolerated soy well. Has been on soy since 1 month old and is now 6 months old. I would like to switch back to similac advance instead of isomil. I have read some controversy on soy.

Best answer:

Answer by bubbles_bubbles_2003
well my daughter was on soy and she was never really got Dag with milk allergy’s her grandmother is a nurse and she thought just to try it and my daughter was fine on it. we did not Switch her back at all to regular formula but when she turned a year old we tried whole milk and she did fine on it. but if you really want to put him back on the slimilac stuff i would do it really slowly like an 2oz of soy stuff and an oz of the silmiac stuff until its all the way to just the slimilac stuff. good luck. i would talk to you dr about it too.

Question by heatherjohnson911: I am allergic to iodine/shellfish. I had a CT scan with dye back in Sept. Could this cause longterm illness?
I WENT TO A LOCAL ER BACK IN SEPT.BECAUSE I HAD CHEST PAINS AND WHAT APPEARED TO BE HEARTBURN. I WAS ADMITTED AND GIVEN NUMEROUS TESTS TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THIS AILMENT. I WAS GIVEN A CT-SCAN WITH DYE AT THAT TIME. PRIOR TO THIS TEST I WASN’T ASKED ABOUT ANY ALLERGIES TO SHELLFISH OR IODINE. RESULTS SHOWED AN UNKNOWN MASS NEAR MY LUNG. I AM STIL SEEING DOCTORS FOR DETERMINATION OF MASS. HOWEVER SINCE BEING RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING NUMEROUS SYMPTOMS. FATIQUE, A RASH ALL OVER MY BODY AND WEAKNESS BEING THE MOST PROMINENT OF THEM. I AM SCHEDULED FOR ANOTHER CT-SCAN NEXT WEEK AND WAS ASKED BY THE TECHNICIAN ABOUT MY ALLERGIES TO SHELLFISH AND IODINE. NOW I AM WORRIED BECAUSE I WASNT ASKED THIS IN THE HOSPITAL. COULD THESE SYMPTOMS BE RELATED TO THE CONTRAST I WAS ADMINISTERED DURING MY LAST CTSCAN?

Best answer:

Answer by midnightmoon62
First, knock off the caps, its hard to read.

Scond, with those allergies, you should KNOW that you NEED to report this, whether they ask you or not. A lot of meds conain iodine, not just the contrast.

I dont know that a reaction from sept would still be bothering you now, but it is worth mentioning to the doc.

However, being that the test saw a mass, it is poss the mass is cancer and this is the effects of the cancer.

http://www.aruplab.com/guides/ug/tests/0055100.jsp – I had this test.

My dermatologist suspected that I might have have additional food allergies (already confirmed allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, cheese, sunflower seeds, bananas) due to some of my rashes and hives. My primary care doctor sent my blood sample off for a test of 26 of the most common food allergens in adults. It confirmed that I am still allergic to peanuts. It also showed mild/moderate allergies to wheat, oats, carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers, and egg white. My PCP, who specializes in nutrition, said I should eliminate all these things from my diet. I can still eat egg yolks, just not the whites. Is this test reliable? Should I go see an allergy specialist?
The test did not include onions – this is something I worry about as I crave onions, and usually eat some (cooked) nearly every day. I cook with them.

Answer by Drumbum
I don’t remember the classification systom so I can’t help there. However, if they gave him an epi pen, I would say he should avoid them. Check labels and tell waiters that he has allergies, and he’ll adjust.

My 5 mo old son has been on a hypoallergenic (very expensive) formula since age 6 weeks due to a diagnosis of lactose intolerance and milk allergy/sensitivity. Now that he is on solids he seems to tolerate milk products well and I am attempting to change to a regular formula to save money. Has anyone else tried this? Been successful? Today he is getting half and half and seems to be doing fine. I know what to look for with the lactose intolerance, but the milk allergy diagnosis was shaky so I am not sure what to look for.
