Question by Susan S: I’ve been eating peanut butter, dairy, eggs… I also breast feed. Will my DD get an allergy?
My daughter is 4 months old. Someone I know discovered the peanut butter she was eating caused her son to get a peanut allergy. So far, DD has no allergies. Neither me nor my husband have food allergies. Will eating peanut butter cause an allergy in my daughter? Or any other food, for that matter?
Obviously, I didn’t realize eating these foods could cause problems. I thought they were to be avoided only if allergies run in your family.

My ped. told me to eat whatever I wanted. I did, and my daughter has no allergies that I am aware of.

You can spend your whole nursing relationship fretting about what you eat. Just eat healthfully and drink enough water and you will be fine!

Question by momma2_isaac03_and_emmett06: I need help finding coconut-free cleaning/personal products. Also free of nut oil, sunflower & hopefully palm.
My baby has severe eczema despite a strict elimination diet on my part and tested positive for these allergies. Finding products to use on him and us is a nightmare so far. We are laundering with Dreft but they won’t disclose their ingredients without a doctor’s note. We found Kiss My Face olive bar soap but that’s it. Any help with dealing with these allergies would be really helpful. My first son was allergic to tree nuts so we have experience with that but not the others. We haven’t tested for palm but are avoiding it preventively; he also was positive for minimal wheat and sesame allergies. Thanks for your help!

Question by charlessmith702210@sbcglobal.net: Why stay away from Xyzal if allergic also to Zyrtec or certierizine? Risk of cross-reactions?
Zyrtec, I know, contains cetierizine hydrochloride, or cetierizine HCI; Xyzal may have a close-to-similar ingredient
that can mask the same chemical as Zyrtec’s generic name.

This is similar to peanut allergy, where a person with it may have to stay away from eating other tree nuts that are not peanuts….

Question by Foxie: I’m on a v.low fat diet due to gall bladder probs. I also have a wheat & peanut allergy and IBS. Eating out?
I’m a little bit sick of cooking for myself :) I’m on holidays and would like to just once be able to go out to a restaurant with my partner and order something I know won’t make me sick (that isn’t plain boiled rice). Any ideas?

Everything you describe is consistent with a condition called Celiac Disease. Have you been tested for this? You may need to find a doc that specializes in Celiac Disease because most docs know very little about it (even though it is very common, but rarely properly diagnosed).

Unfortunately, eating food from restaurants can be ‘risky’ with your allergy issues.

Best wishes.
