Question by : Nutrition/Meal Replacement Shakes for Vegans and Milk Allergy?
I am vegan and I do have a milk allergy. I have a weight issue and I am supposed to drink these to gain weight. Apparently eating 4 meals a day and having a bmi of 16 isn’t okay. Anyways, I had been drinking Ensure Plus (350 calories a bottle) and it had been making me sick. Stupid enough, I hadn’t checked it for milk. And it did in fact have milk in it.
Is there any other nutrition shakes you can buy. I don’t really want to fart around with powdered ones, I like the ones that come in bottles. Vanilla is my favourite. Oh, and I’m in USA, PA, and I’d like to be able to get these in grocery stores.

Question by savannah: I got my allergy test back and need some help?
I got a food allergy test because I wanted to know which foods I might be allergic to and this is what came back:
Wheat
Oats [highest]
Corn
Rice
Soy
Tomato [mild]
Strawberry [mild]
Am I screwed in the food department because all the normal alternatives like soy, rice and corn or on the list? Like if I didn’t want to eat wheat I can’t have corn or rice pasta! What could I choose?
Also with dairy, I avoid dairy but if I can’t have soy, rice or oat milk what can I have?
oh ok thanks proud mamma for helping me!
what is the “Food challenge”? is it where you test your heart rate?
i don’t get rashes from the foods but i do think i get heightened anxiety attacks after eating the foods and my chest feels heavy.
no i did another blood test and it said i wasn’t celiac yet i have wheat listed, hm

Question by M: Can I breastfeed thru a milk allergy?
I have a 2 mo old son with a suspected milk allergy. I have seen mucus in his stool and he is VERY
fussy at night after nursing all day. I have eliminated milk from diet with no change in baby. I do not want to stop breastfeeding – HELP!
The doctor suspects milk allergy. I have to give one bottle per day to get baby ready for daycare, that is when the crying started (3 weeks old)…we have switched from milk based to soy formula and now nutramigen. He is also on Zantac to see if it is acid reflux.

Who suspects the allergy? Is it you or his doctor? Are you sure he isn’t colic? Sounds a bit like colic to me. My baby girl was colic and sounds just llike yours. If you havent already, check with his doctor about these symptoms. It is rare that breastfed babies have allergic reaction to what you eat. It can happen, but it isn’t extremely common.

Question by wiujh: Food allergy cookbook?
My daughter who will be 2 in September is allergic to all things MILK. We have also noticed that she is showing signs that she may be allergic to egg. We have not tried peanut butter yet, and are afraid to because we don’t need another allergy at this point. She will eat meat (ground beef, chicken, turkey and pork), in small amounts
She love vegetables broccoli being her favorite. Wheat, pasta noodles fruit and soy are all safe foods for her to eat. I have bought several cook books, but have trouble finding recipes that will satisfy me, my wife (who isn’t a big vegetable eater) and my daughter at the same time.
Does anyone know of any cook books out there that are specific to food allergies and leave out MILK, EGG, Peanut and Fish in their recipes. Any help would be very helpful. Thank-you!
