Just today, we found out that our 2 year old is allergic to at the very least, walnuts, and probably other types, including peanuts. I have a call into my allergist to get him formerly tested – something that I was putting off until the new year (and new insurance) but with this call from his pediatrician I now have a message with my clinic to try to get him in tomorrow or Monday for more testing. For the time being, my pediatrician prescribed an epi pen for us to carry around.
I am scared to death that I will be the mom to the kid in the classroom with the peanut allergy. How do you deal with it? Are there any good resources out there for me to figure out what name brand foods to avoid, etc.? Am I over reacting? Will I become or need to become a label reader?
Help! I appreciate your assistance in advance.

I have been struggling with “chronic hives” for years, doctors cant figure out what causes it. Last week I did a little experiment of my own and found that i seem to react when i eat products with white flour (bread, tortilla chips, etc.) or starchy foods. I cut these products out for a week and minimal reaction when I ate. I ate only 100% whole grain/ wheat products. Has anyone heard of allergy to only WHITE FLOUR products?

… if they looked horribly deformed by their allergic reaction, and they wanted to be your date to an award show?
Tanya: Ha, I love that woman’s facial expressions.
Also, I’m an atheist, but I really need to set my ringtone to Hava Nagila for just such an occasion…

I am having blood tests in a couple of hours and I’m wondering whether I should eat wheat before the tests?
I am trying to cut down on the amount of wheat I eat because I am in the middle of my exam period and wheat gives me really bad IBS
But if I’m being tested for it should I have some before my blood test?
Thankyou
