Question by cj84: Has anyone heard of this related to an allergy?
My 9 month old daughter has recently tried toast (whole wheat) but for the past few weeks here voice has has seemed crackly. Personally I think it’s because she does these very high pitched squeals and screams when she gets excited, my MIL is convinced it’s an allergy, even though my daughter is extremely happy and acting normal and has no signs of an allergy (watery eyes, runny nose, rash, irritability, being sick) I do have a check up May 25 (earliest I can get in) I really don’t think I have anything to worry about, but she (is staying with us for a week) is so convinced something is wrong with her and telling me to stop any foods, except for beginner purees, it’s kind of driving me crazy that she thinks I don’t know my daughter well enough to know when something is wrong. Has anyone heard of a baby having a slightly crackling voice as an allergy reaction? I haven’t read it anywhere
The thing is she had this crackling since about a week before the bread, I have only given to her 3 times total and have stopped for time being, and her voice is still kind of crackling..I didn’t mean to sound super annoyed in this, I just hate when someone is constantly telling me how to raise my child and always pointing out everything they think I am doing wrong..Thank you for the responses

Question by Alisha: trying to figure out my dogs allergy?
I have a min.dachshund. He’s a “party color” (solid black). The softest fur EVER (akin to that of a bunny). However, he seems to have developed a bit of an allergy. He was getting ear infections often, and beginning to lick/chew his paws. My vet suggested changing his food up. I have. He eats blue buffalo basics, turkey and sweet potato. No corn, soy, wheat, flour, grain (etc) or chicken. Apparently the biscuits suck (at least he thinks so). She also gave me something like a benadryl (but weaker) because the ben made him pee like, everywhere and be drowsy.
He’s a very BALL oriented dog, so during his waking hours he doesn’t really scratch himself, or anything, just runs around and plays ball. It’s at night, maybe the hour before he falls asleep that the itch seems to bother him. His skin doesn’t appear to be red anywhere (sometimes the underneaths of his ears, but that seems to be after he runs around outside in the HEAT). but his fur is falling out on his chest/underbelly (and, on a black dog with white skin this is pretty bad).
it doesn’t seem to matter how long he’s been outside, it’s been rainy the past few days and he still seems pretty darn itchy at night. I’m open to any suggestions. Just not “take him to the vet and get him allergy tested”. Mostly because the vet around here (specialist) is 600$/initial visit, 2000$ for the allergy test. And that is a chunkload.
My regular vet is VERY reasonable, just the specialist is not. He’s supposed to be on 2 doses daily (12 hours apart I’d imagine). She (the vet) checks his ears, and has never said anything about mites. He usually has a yeast infection, and is treated with drops for 7-10days. he is also on K9 ADVANTIX (to prevent fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and biting flies).
*I called it Party- color, not to mean he is partially colored, but that it was a new-fad color. I guess that’s just my way of describing it. And I think technically, as solid black is odd for a dachshund (who are usually black and tan) he might be partially colored?
The main problem I’m having is he never seems itchy until bed time. And only then if he didn’t bring his ball to bed. It’s like OCD. he doesn’t notice he’s itchy until he’s too tired to play ball. So, there isnt much of a degree of itchyness.

Hi,
It could be allergies or it could be mites (demodectic or sarcoptic mange) either will cause his hair to fall out. Are his ears crusty at all? That’s a sign. If all else fails and you think it’s an allergy, the raw food diet usually works. See if there is an ASPCA in your area. The vet care there is reasonable. Good Luck

Question by shallan a: could this be a food allergy? HELP!?
I am having some trouble finding out what it is i am eating that is causing me problems. every once in a while i get really bad gas often accompanied by diarrhea and/or nausea. i suspect milk and cut a lot of dairy products out, and now drink enriched rice milk, but the last few days i have been obviously eating something else that has negative effects on me, i have been eating a lot of wheat so maybe gluten? and also the last 3 days or so Ive eaten a lot of strawberries, could this be a strawberry allergy that ive suddenly developed/noticed.

any information on: allergies, development of allergies in adulthood (im 22), personal experiences, irritable bowl syndrome, anything i would welcome. I’m just at a loss, i really don’t know what this could be.

oh! other then this i am healthy and active, don’t eat fast food etc so it isn’t just poor diet in general.

Ok, I have lots of allergies, so I might be able to help. I would say to try different things, test different foods, and see what they do to you. Also, you need to keep in mind any and all environmental factors that could be aggravating our allergies. Bottom line, go see an allergist, and seek medical attention if your symptoms intensify severely.

Question by irasyazreen: recipe for toodler with cow’s milk allergy.?
hye. i have an one year old son who is allergy to cow’s milk since he was one month old, that mean he cannot consume anything that contains diary products such as yogurt, cheese, butter, etc. but he can handle soy milk as my doctor suggested it and he seems to have no problem with soy milk.
i always seek for healthy recipe for my son as i didnt like to buy baby’s food in a jar because most of them contains diary products. But the problem now is, many of the recipe that i found also included ingredients such as butter, heavy cream, cheese and yogurt. do u guys have any other recipe that do not contain any of these ingredients.?

Question by Aubrielle’s mommy: Is it possible my baby has a cow’s milk allergy?
My daughter is 5 months. She has always been a VERY fussy baby. I love her, but sometimes i feel like i’m going crazy. She was exclusively breastfed until 2 weeks ago. She has her good days where she’s pretty content but then she has EXTERMELY fussy days where she just screams her head off. I recently put her on formula and she was doing really good for a few days then today she had one of her “screams her head off most of the day” days. She also has eczema that I have a hard time getting rid of. Anyways, my question is, could all of this fussiness and eczema be related to her having a cows milk allergy? I never cut dairy out of my diet…I never really thought to until i read an article right now about the allergy. and the formula she is on right now is Goodstart gentle which is made from cows milk. She isn’t fussy like this EVERYDAY so if she did in fact have a cows milk allergy would her fussiness be daily or would it come and go as hers does?

I’m just trying to find an answer as to why she has such bad days sometimes. It breaks my heart cuz i just don’t know what to do anymore.

thanks everyone

look for other signs like throwing up, unusual red “circle” like rash around her anus, and if shes breaking out anywhere but her face.

its possible she could just be adjusting to formula…i would call the doctor though just to be sure.
