Question by Random Cat: I have a milk allergy, can I be allergic to soy as well?
I am a 15 year old. I’ve been diagnosed with a milk allergy. When I consume milk, or any kind of milk protein or whatever, I have an allergic reaction. My throat burns like acid in this one particular spot. It’s in the back of my mouth… Like, you know if you suck snot from your nose into your throat, the hole it comes through? That’s where it hurts. I also have had recurrent sinus infection for 9 years now. I’d get them non stop. I figured out that the milk causes it. I have milk, my throat burns instantly, and within days I’m stuffed up, have headaches, TONS, I mean TONNNNSSS on mucus. The whole deal.
I’ve noticed that I get the sore spot in my throat at random times too… I’ll check my labels and I don’t see any milk or milk ingredients either. I’m vegan, so I’d know. I have a lot of soy products, tofu, soy milk, soy cheese. Could I be allergic to soy as well?
I think I’m going to cut out the soy and have almond milk instead just to see.

Answer by Chloe Hayfer Many pple have this type of question. The answer is 100000 % No. Why? Because soy milk is not really milk. Soy milk comes from soy beans, while milk is a dairy product that is used in cheese, cream, icecream ect. Soy milk and plain milk have no connection whatsoever. I think you might be having head aches for a different reason. you might want to go see a docotr about that. Hope I helped sorry if I didnt. Good Luck ! =D

Question by Brooks: Cooking ideas for someone allergic to wheat, soy, corn, chicken, beef, rice, gr. beans, potato and cocoa? True?
My son was recently diagnosed with allergies to all listed above. Luckily he loves raw vegetables, but I really need some ideas for actual cooking other than turkey and ham. Any help would be wonderful!
My son was recently diagnosed with allergies to all listed above. Luckily he loves raw vegetables, but I really need some ideas for actual cooking other than turkey and ham. Since he is allergic to wheat and soy, most vegetarian substitutes for meat are out because of the glutein. Any help would be wonderful!

Answer by marty p You try a variety of fish dish’s. Other than that the food allergies association may be able to help. Look them up. They did a nice presentation at our school to help understand food allergies.

Question by Rudayallday: I recently found out that my son is allergic to a list of foods, any good recipe ideas?
Here is his allergy list: egg whites, wheat, soy, corn, cashews, sesame seeds, and maple trees (when in bloom). These items appear to be in just about EVERYTHING.
Consumption of these food are what has given him problems with asthma, eczema, and sinus issues and I am running short on recipe’s. He eats a lot of fruit, vegetables, and meat that has not been cooked in oils that contain corn or soy and not battered in flour. Your suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Answer by eloquent avoid processed foods, read labels at least 3 times each, see a nutritionist to ensure his diet is balanced & healthy, keep the modified diet for the entire family to ensure his safety, keep liquid benedryl (always know the current dose) and his epi pen handy at all times, take a CPR class & encourage the same for any person that will care for your son. join a parent resource group -or start one, follow up with the allergist if you have medical questions, and see FAAN.org.

Question by Dakota: Is there a different name for being allergic to milk?
People always seem to say that they are allergic to milk, when in-fact they are just Lactose-intolerant, I was wondering what the actual term for being allergic to milk is, Because Lactose-intolerant isn’t an allergy, it just means that your stomach can’t handle milk too well. I was told at a young age that Im Lactose-intolerant but I’ve been drinking milk all my life and Im just fine.
