There are many individuals out there that don’t seem to do well with the consumption of peanuts. This type of allergy is due to the immune system rejecting them and fighting against itself. As a result there are substances created in the body that fight off this particular type of food. They body isn’t about to let it be consumed and then digested like the rest of the items you normally consume.

As a result your entire body becomes over sensitive to the consumption of peanuts. That is something that can occur over time though instead of at once. For example your body may recognize peanuts as a foreign substance the first time you consume them. Yet it is just getting ready to fight them off. So the next time you consume them you may have very severe reaction. Think if your body as soldiers that are transitioning from getting ready for battle to actually taking part in combat.

Many experts believe that the our environment as well as our diets are to blame for the increase in the number of people diagnosed with peanuts allergy. The fact that so many foods are made from peanuts or contain peanuts oil means that our immune systems may not be able to handle it. As a result it begins to change and that is when the adverse reaction takes place. This could explain why may of the allergy problems don’t occur until a person is quite a bit older.

There is still plenty of testing that has to be done regarding the cause of peanuts allergy. Some people go through life consuming them just fine and then one day they have a bad reaction to them. There are also some people that seem to outgrow such an allergy as they get older. The last category are those that have always been and will always be susceptible to peanuts allergy. It is believed in many cases there is a genetic link as well.

Parents that have tested positive to having a peanuts allergy are encouraged to get their children tested at a very early age. As a precaution many of these parents simply don’t take the risk. They don’t expose their children to any types of peanuts just in case they do develop the same type of allergy problem.

There are some very unusual cases of peanuts allergy that have been diagnosed over the years. They have helped to bring some of the research into place but in other cases they have led to even more questions. In the mean time there is a huge focus on the treatments for peanuts allergy until we can find all the underlying causes and perhaps one can develop a cure as well.
