What Are The Symptoms of Milk Allergy?

Of the different foods allergies out there, one due to milk and milk products is the most common. For most people, the onset of these symptoms will occur within a short period of time after consumption. Therefore it is very easy to make the connection to what triggered it. There is an array of them that can occur for a person. It will depend on how much of the milk products they consumed as well as how severe they have such an allergy.

For most people, a milk allergy isn’t life threatening. The symptoms usually won’t last more than a day or two. The most common type of symptom is a skin breakout after milk consumption. They include a runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, coughing, and wheezing. Some individuals due have a very severe reaction to their milk allergy though.

For them, the problem can actually be on that is life threatening. They are unable to breath due to internal swelling of the throat and the airway. They need to get immediate medical assistance as they can die from this lack of oxygen. Another concern is that their blood pressure drops rapidly. As a result they may pass out, go into shock, or even suffer from a stroke in the most severe cases.

The symptoms that a person will experience with a milk allergy may not be the same all the time. That is why it is important to take such an allergic reaction seriously. While most people do experience these types of symptoms within minutes or hours of consumption not everyone does. If the symptoms occur a few days later you do want to also consider the link to a milk product that you consumed.

It is very important to pay attention to the symptoms of a milk allergy. You don’t want to continue consuming them thinking you will outgrow it. Even if you only suffer mild symptoms right now that allergy may get worse. You may suffer from more severe effects the next time you consume it.
