Question by AllyCat: Go on a cruise with severe iodine ans shellfish allergy?
My family and I want to go on a cruise this summer. We aren’t sure if it would be a good idea though. My mom has a deadly iodine and shellfish allergy. It’s gotten so bad that she can’t even swim in the ocean anymore without getting a few hives. Would she be alright if we went on a cruise or would the air and the frequent mist from the water upset her allergies?

Yahoo answers is probably not the place to ask life and death questions. She needs to have a thorough discussion with her doctor about the wisdom of going on a cruise. One option might be to do a cruise on the Great Lakes if there is such a thing or a river cruise on the Mississippi or in Europe. That way salt water is avoided.

Question by person1500: If you have a tree nut allergy, does it mean you are also allergic to peanuts?
After i had a reaction to a brazilian nut, my doctors suggested i dont eat peanuts along with tree nuts. i happen to like peanuts and have eaten them all my life. do i really have to give them up?

Best answer:

Answer by Richard M
Peanuts don’t grow on trees. You may not actually have an allergy to all tree nuts either. I think your doctor is being overly cautious. Having said that, I believe that you might be wise to go to a specialist and discover exactly how broad your allergy is. That way you can know for sure how to be safe.
