an intolerance is different than an allergic reaction.....milk and dairy products have a tendency to mucus producing...many times children outgrow some of their allergies.

start him with warm water... or a little rice cereal (thick at first and then thin) with water and a smidge of formula.
don't worry!!!
talk to your doctor, though.

I am having similar trouble with my 7 month old daughter. She is not a fan of formula but I know how important it is so I mix it in with the cereals that may disguise the taste and I also give her a dry wholemeal biscuit on some occasions so she becomes thirsty and will take a big drink of formula. The cereal I have just started trying is Rafferty's Garden, multigrain breakfast banana & apricot with extra iron. It's the same price as farex and it comes in a orangy cool zip lock bag. I find the formula flavour mixes in well with it. Even though it's only a small ammount that gets mixed in, it's better than none I guess.
My daughter does not drink the recommended ammount for her age. She drinks smaller ammounts and 5 times a day instead of 4. I often think she does not drink enough but she's going well, she's always happy and is around correct weight for her height.

Actually, yes. My daughter was "diagnosed" with bronchitis every three weeks for about 6 months, when she was drinking milk from her bottle. She'd get green mucus, and cough a bunch...daycare sent her home, thinking she was contagious. Every time I took her to the doc, they said it was bronchitis, and gave her another antibiotic.
After a few months of this, my mother suggested that it might be the milk. We switched her to acidophilus milk, and the symptoms disappeared almost overnight.
It doesn't make sense that this should work...the acidophilus is supposed to help with digestive issues. I can't explain it scientifically, but I know that it's true.
If I were you, I'd probably give regular milk another try. Lots of things can change over 20 years.

Biologically speaking, we, as humans are all allergic to milk as adults. Obviously we are not baby cows, or goats or anything else. so it is odd that we consumer 'milk' meant for the young of other animals.with that said, your individual reaction to dairy is just that, and an actual small percentage pf the population is technically lactose intolerant. but the term gets thrown around and misused a lot. interestingly, the majority of people who self diagnose as lactose intolerant, are really just having the symptoms of our inherent 'allergy' to milk. pertaining to your allergist, well, you know your body best, if you can handle dairy, and in what form is up to you. it is of course, over all much more healthy to stay clear of dairy, but to each there own.

Babies are supposed to get about 32 oz. (formula or breast milk) until they are one year old.
Keep trying with the formula, or if you can try to start breast feeding again, that would be even better for him.

There is no test that is 100% accurate. You should rely on what your body tells you.
If you had a blood test, get the results checked via skin test with your allergist. We have had blood tests (RAST) that came back very wrong. I have a daughter with a terribly strong egg allergy and the RAST came back negative.
We've had better luck with the skin tests. They showed our strong allergies, but also gave us information on moderate and mild allergies.
Any test should only be used as a starting point for figuring out your allergies. If it makes you feel bad or sick, keep it out.
