Was disqualified from Airforce Due to Shellfish Allergy?
Posted by: Alan in Shellfish Allergies, tags: Airforce, Allergy, disqualified, From, Shellfish
Is there anyway that i could possibly get another chance to get in? Any type of loopholes or even just waiting a certain length of time? I’ve wanted to join fo nearly my whole life and i would hate for my chances to be ruined due to a natural allergy that i had no control over.
Also i was denied a waver already.
If i were to attempt with the Navy is there anything i can do to further increase my chances of receiveing a waiver?

you should be able to get a waiver for something so small…

Well if your Waiver was already denied I think your only option left is to try to join the Army. Some services give waivers where others won’t. I would say either the Marines or Navy as other options but given your allergy well, they spend a lot of time on or near water at times and this is probably not going to be favorable for you. If the waiver was denied you’re SOL and the only other option is to try another service. I looked through AR 40-501 and the paragraphs on Allergies is a bit sketchy to me but that is about the only advice I can give you is to try the Army and the AF is done so don’t even bother with that anymore.
I really really doubt the Navy will even talk to you. Oceans, Ships, at Sea, Sea Fish, Fish Shells, Shell Fish. Think about it Ok. If it is controlled by meds that may be one thing but even then you have to be off of them for a very long time for them to even think about not saying no.

no. if you are at risk of anylphalactic shock you are PDQd, no waivers authorized for all five branches.
once a waiver is denied you are done. there is no appeal.
