Most shellfish allergies are from iodine poisoning.

One Response to “If Fucus Vesiculosus contains high iodine counts would a person allergic to shellfish have an allergy to this?”

Hi ADev. I don’t think it’s worth the risk to find out without being tested, but having said that, I am severely allergic to shellfish, but can actually take kelp tablets. I guess, in my case, it must be that I am allergic to something in the shellfish other than iodine, although I’m not really sure. If I eat shellfish, I have an anaphylactic reaction (throat closes up inside) but kelp tablets don’t give me any reaction at all.
