Does anyone else out there have an allergy to tree nuts?
Posted by: Alan in tree nuts allergies, tags: Allergy, Anyone, Else, Nuts., There, Tree
I am allergic to tree nuts, not peanuts, but almonds, pistachios, brazil nuts, etc. They make me very ill. I get a rash if they are ground up on something around me. I have to be very careful with what I eat because I have to make sure there are no nut products in them (very common). Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do for quick healthy snacks? Have you found any good food products out there? Thanks.

I am not allergic, but popcorn, doritos, potato chips, apples and other fruits and veggies are good snacks.

My son is allergic to all nuts except macadamias. He is also allergic to mustard seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds etc! He gets an extreme reaction, immediate swelling of the lips, tongue and throat and so carries an Epipen. I’m allergic only to hazelnuts, peanuts, pistachios and walnuts, but can eat almonds, brazils, cashews and macadamias. Lots of foods seem to use nut oils (like aracas oils) in products you’d never expect to contain nuts, so the labelling is lifesaving! I stick to fruits and raw veg for healthy snacks, including raisins and dried cranberries.
