My 10 month old is just starting to refuse formula. He eats baby food and table food fine. I simply can not get him to drink liquids. He doesnt really like juice and will occassionally drink water. He only weighs 19 pounds and is 30 inches already. Hes skin and bones. Im afraid he isnt getting what he needs since he isnt drinking formual. He also has a milk allergy so I can not just switch to milk. Any suggestions.

formula is the vital ingredient still- cut out the foods until he does formula again. he should get 32 ounces i believe i day… and no water… soy milk is a possibility but a lot more expensive than milk

This sounds like your describing my daughter! she is also 10 months old and is very small about 8 kg and she also has an allergy to milk. I put her on a de-lact formula and she is not that bad any more. She has dropped from 220ml 4 times a day to 160ml 3 times a day.
If he is teething he will lose his appetite so keep that in mind. In my opinion if he is eating 3 meals a day and snacking I wouldn’t be that worried but it is always good to see your doctor.

why not take him to the doctors and ask if its normal, every baby is different though!
babies growth slows down at 6 months so i think his weight is fine.
but if your worried go see a doctor!
hope it all goes well :)

He’s old enough to be off formula now anyway, so
don’t restart it, unless you try the formula in a sippy cup
to see if he’ll drink it then. If not, try other things in a
sippy cup: juice, lactade milk, jello water or a milkshake
made with lactade milk if you think he’s too thin.

What kind of formula are you using? Soy is BAD for babies, and other formulas are made from…..MILK!
19lbs is totally fine for a 10 month old, as long as they are meeting other milestones. Why not try re-lactating?
All he needs for hydration is water, if he is eating other foods. We don’t NEED to drink milk.

OK well he should drink at least 2-3 full size bottles everyday (8 or 9 oz) if hes refusing that type of formula try a gentle formula like nutramigen made by enfamil its for sensitive stomachs its all i could have as a baby …….ask your Dr what he or she thinks you should do as well its always good to have a professional opinion…Good luck!!!!!

well u can introduce soft pastas babies can get tired of the goopy baby food.
Try pasta, beans, banana, chicken noodle soup yogurt, mashed potatoes with gravy this is a dish my girls loove. Also try macaroni and cheese all kids love this u can make it with soy milk. Spaghetti with pasta sauce and cheese its cheap and easy to make u can go on most bay websites and get some recipies for picky babies.. also make an appointment with ur doctor they will let u know if perhaps he need vitamin supplements.

Babies are supposed to get about 32 oz. (formula or breast milk) until they are one year old.
Keep trying with the formula, or if you can try to start breast feeding again, that would be even better for him.

I am having similar trouble with my 7 month old daughter. She is not a fan of formula but I know how important it is so I mix it in with the cereals that may disguise the taste and I also give her a dry wholemeal biscuit on some occasions so she becomes thirsty and will take a big drink of formula. The cereal I have just started trying is Rafferty’s Garden, multigrain breakfast banana & apricot with extra iron. It’s the same price as farex and it comes in a orangy cool zip lock bag. I find the formula flavour mixes in well with it. Even though it’s only a small ammount that gets mixed in, it’s better than none I guess.
My daughter does not drink the recommended ammount for her age. She drinks smaller ammounts and 5 times a day instead of 4. I often think she does not drink enough but she’s going well, she’s always happy and is around correct weight for her height.

start him with warm water… or a little rice cereal (thick at first and then thin) with water and a smidge of formula.
    don’t worry!!!
    talk to your doctor, though.

I stopped breastfeeding my son (now 3yrs old) at 10months old. He did not like formula and his doctor told my to try soy milk. He like the soy so he stayed on that till he ws 12months and then we switched him over to whole milk. He is as healthy as can be but, always ask your doctor first. :) good luck!
