Can My 10 Month Old Baby Have Cow’s Milk On A Regular Basis?
Posted by: Alan in Milk Allergies, tags: Baby, Basis, Cow's, Have, Milk, Month, Regular
His dr. said cheese is good, and he loves it, and he just had a small taste of cow’s milk – would it hurt him to have like a sippy cup of it every day? Or is it better to wait until he is one year, for allergy reasons?

It would be better to wait until he is a year, to prevent allergies and as milk decreases iron absorption as it is irritating to the lining of the intestine (can cause internal bleeding) – and babies have undeveloped intestinal tracts. Cheese is a different beast really as it is made with milk but what you are really eating is bacteria (yes yes) and/or yeasts and/or fungi (think the blue cheeses). The microbes break down the milk proteins into their proteins proteins for their own use. Indeed, yogurt would be even better since the microbes in it would be colonizing your son’s guts with bacteria that help with digestion.

I DO NOT THINK SO
AFTER 18 MONTHS MAYBE, CHECK WITH YOUR DOC FIRST!

Breastmilk is best, for as long as possible.

Unless your 10 month old is a cow NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can give him bleeding ulcers, diabetes, obesity, amoung other things. I would wait at least until he is one. I personally do not give my kids cows milk at all because they are not cows..

you really shouldnt give a baby cows milk until they are 14 months 1. He cant break down the proteins found in milk yet
2. It lacks nutritional value such as DHA which he will need lots of til he is 2
There are many reasons why you shouldnt give your child cows milk especially at 10 months he should still be drinking formula

I wouldn’t think that two months would make that much difference. As long as he digests it well, he will be fine having it.

When my son was about 9 months old, his doctor had him switch from breast milk to formula (because he wasn’t gaining weight) and I hated the formula so much that I couldn’t wait to switch to cow’s milk. I lasted until about 11 months and then made the switch and my son was fine. If there is a history of allergies in your family you might want to wait a while. Otherwise, give it a try and see how he tolerates it. Babies that age (or, at one year) should be drinking whole or 2% milk. One cup a day will probably be fine for him, but if that’s all your giving him make sure he’s still getting plenty of formula or breast milk.
