I Think My 6 Week Old Daughter Is Allergic To Milk.?

When I feed her regular formula she squished into a ball, and cries but does drink it. She also cries pretty much all day, she has really bad gas and has a rash on her face and head. I think that she has a milk allergy, but I am taking her to the doctors on Tuesday. Just wanted to know if this happened to anyone else, and if so what did you feed your baby? I got some soy formula yesterday and she seems to be MUCH better but then I was reading that lots of babies that are allergic to milk are also allergic to soy. Anyhow any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah no one else has a milk allergy in our families.

Both of my children are milk allergies. They drank a soy based formula..Isomil…and did great on it. They too cried and were very gassy on the milk based formula. Actually there have been reports of late about the benefits of soy milk for children. They say that soy milk babies are less likely to become overweight and other benefits as well.

Most people that are allergic to milk are not allergic to soy. If she’s doing better then stick with it until you see your doctor, then take his/her advice.

If she is taking to the soy formula, and not having any problems, keep her on it. It does sound like lactose intolerance though, which is surprisingly common among babies. My son, also, did this and was lactose intolerant… don’t use the lactose free formula..it still contains lactose (figure that out?) Enflamil Soy si good, and so is Isolmil… you can use either one. But, my son who is now almost eight months has switched back to regular formula and is doing fine. Lactose intolerance is a condition, that though common, is easy for babies to get over. Good Luck, i wish you all the best!

One of my daughters had a milk allergy. She had a red rash on her face and behind her ears. The pediatrician put her on a soy based formula and she did fine.

Lacsosintolerant (lack-sos-in-tol-er-ant) is the term 4 it.Just give her water or stick with your formula.maybe breastfeeding? When she gets a little older introduce the little one to kool-aid.She’ll be a happy little thing!

Could be a cow’s milk protein allergy. Talk with your peds about it. Soy formula may be needed. A small percentage of babies with cow’s milk allergy also have soy allergy but it may be best to try it out and see if the symptoms go away first before going to one of those really special formulas that smell and taste awful. I like organic products and used Baby’s Only Organic Soy for a while.

She may be lactose sensitive. This is actually a GREAT question to call her pediatrician about. He/she may actually want you to bring your baby in. If you are a first-time parent, they EXPECT you to call with all kinds of questions. I don’t personally think there is any such thing as being TOO inquisitive when it comes to your child’s health.
Best of luck!

If you’re breastfeeding as well, stick too just that, I know it takes patience but she won’t be allergic to your milk. As they say ‘breast is best’ your child will have a heathier body and better immune system.xx
